Microfiber

I was planning on doing my spring cleaning this week since I'm off from school. I ran to WalMart today and grabbed some microfiber towels, since I had never used them before and heard that they were great to wax and polish with. Anyway, I looked at the tag on the actual towel after I opened it and it says 70% polyester! wtf? I can't imagine polyester fibers are useable on paint.....is it okay since it's microfiber?

Microfiber is a composition of 80% Polyester and 20% Polyamide (a nylon by-product). The microscopic fibers are split creating even smaller wedges that scrape away, and grab dust dirt and grime.

Microfiber itself will not scratch a surface. Though, since microfiber material clings to dirt, dust and grime it can pick up materials that can scratch the surface that you are cleaning.

Thanks NSX, I have a chenile mitt to actually wash the car, so I'll only use the microfiber to polish/wax after the car is clean. Thank God I don't have to bring it back, going to walmart sucks

are these machine washable? Can you use a dryer to dry em? Or will they shrink further....and will we then have to call them micro-micro fibers?

Microfiber kicks ass for removing wax. I use Mothers carnuba and it gums up regular towels really quick. The micro fiber takes the wax right off. I have the small ones from Wall Mart too.

DO NOT DRY THEM. Let them air dry. Polyester will melt if you put it in the dryer on a heat setting.
