Merc's Vision Of The Future

It might look like a modern-day carriage for Lady Penelope, but this unique Mercedes has more in mind than an appearance in Thunderbirds. Engineers have developed the plexiglass dome-roofed CLK as part of a project aimed at cutting accidents caused by restricted vision.
Research has proved that A-pillars remove between nine and 12 per cent of a driver's field of view, and Mercedes is looking at ways of redesigning them without compromising aerodynamics or crash safety.

Aughh! That's ugly.

hey, instead of getting rid of the a- and b- pillars to prevent accidents, they should get rid of bad drivers instead.

That looks dumb. MB makes a panoramic roof (all glass roof) for the SL that is much nicer.

I'd rather see some super strong exotic material used for the pillars that makes them thinner. That way they could perserve the overall look of today's cars. The dome looks too geeky.

Why not let them make it production and I will test drive it. If I like it then I will buy one

But I guess it should look a bit better....

I imagine Crystal dome with LC film to dimm it to pitch bleak

I think its just a bad angle for the picture... it seems to have the same shape of a regular convertible.
