Me vs. S2000

I was on the 520 heading toward Redmond this past weekend and came upon a black S2000 going a bit slow in the left lane. Guy was about my age. Both lanes were completely open for about 1/4 mile. I moved over to the right lane to pass and the guy started pacing me as I came up next to his car. My heart started to pound at this point. We were going about 65 and we both hit it. I was in 3rd gear when the race started. I pulled about 3 cars on him before shifting into 4th @ about 105mph. He kept trying so I kept going. 4th gear was pretty much a dead-heat as I was pulling ever-so-slightly. VTEC was still a long way away. We finally came up to traffic so slowed down to more reasonable speeds. We didn't get another chance to go. I was pretty impressed with the highway speeds of the S. I suspect he was pretty close to stock. It was also a very nice day so his top was down. I'm sure that would hurt him a bit too topend.

Nice kill. Sounds about right ... stock S2000s are good for about a 13.9 in the 1/4 mile on their best day, and you're at about a 13.6 ... from a roll when you eliminate the RWD advantage you should be able to pull more easily, which you did. Watch out for those supercharged S2000s though, they'll whoop you

I got a nice beat down last year in Portland at the NW meet. A guy had a nice blown S2k there. Pulled quite nicely.

The 1/4 times are fairly close between my modded CL and a stock S, but I'm pretty sure I trap 4-5 mph faster. That's all that counts on the hwy.

In your CLS or your S/C S2k? One look at that CF hood on the S2k and I'd back down too...

That's because you like to play rough. Remember, we've seen your beast.

With the right setup, a "stock" supercharger with aftercooler (no increased boost or headwork or anything) should be running low 13s if they get traction and launch it well... With a higher boost pulley and some extra work on the engine, there are guys on s2ki which are making nearly 400whp. Not sure what they'd run in the 1/4 mile, but the cars are beasts... Turbo'ed S2000s are even more insane pushing over 500whp.

I'm thinking no, just because the S2000 is faster than the 6MT CL-S in the 1/4 mile and if you're taking the S2000 from a roll, its going to be in VTEC which is where all of the S2000's power is. Below 6000 rpms, the S2000 isn't all that fast, but above 6000rpms the S2000 comes alive.

I'm not 100% sure though, they're close enough that it would probably be a driver's race on the highway.
