ME vs. new 330xi

This was fun. This guy goes to school with me, and he asked if I would race him (we have played on our cars before this...he had a 02 stang GT). He wanted to put $$ down, so I put $50 on the race....

We go to I-80 east of roseville...lots of open straight road. We get to ~45, and both punch it. By the end of third, I had 4-5 lengths on him, and we had to shut it down for traffic.....

I know that the 330xi is not a vette, but it felt good to kill a car he just spent 40K on....when I paid 12,900 for my CL-p...

$50 more towards headers!!

a CLP with ur mods wont beat a 330.. xi or ci... especially 4-5 car length...

I agree, it won't beat a ci, and I don't think it should beat an xi either, and if you did race a bad driver, it would deffinitely not be 4-5 lengths and from a stop he would kill you.

Plus, you have all that extra weight in your car...

from car-stats for an 01 330xi

Car-Stats.com Report for 2001 BMW 330xi
Obtained from MT March, 2001
0-60: 5.8 Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 14.4
1/4 Speed: 96

thats pretty quick, quicker than a stock cl-s.... but anyway, it coulda happened there are lots of factors in a race, maybe from that speed he doesnt have good pull who knows.... good race, i doubt you're lying about it

lol had to say that because my baby cousin made me watch that horrible movie. Still if you win and the other driver sucks at driving I still consider that as winning so good job buddy. Way to rep the CL-P

i would think the 330 would have an advantage over you from a stop or a roll.

i used to have a 330xi MT and it would smoke a CL-P off the line or from a roll anyday.

off the line though u gotta dump the clutch somewhat... but it has a killer launch.

330xi will beat a stock CL-S off the line from a roll though i think it could be close

CL-S with i/h will beat a 330xi from a roll no doubt

when I first got my car I raced a 330ci and I handed him one...with I/H I serve them thier ass all day long. However, they're a great machine.

There's a guy at bimmerforums who owns a 330Ci ZHP and a 6 speed CL-S, which is his wife's.

He ran a 14.1 totally stock with the CL Type S and a 14.0 with his ZHP BMW (10 more hp than the 330ci)

He also ran a 13.66 with a totally stock S2000. Needless to say, the guy has over 8000 runs at the track under his belt and really knows how to drive. He pretty much sets the standard. He told me that if he had better tires on the CL Type S and if the car didn't just have 1200 miles on the odometer when he ran it, he would have gotten into the 13s.

But still, if you did beat him, it would deffinitely not be 4-5 carlengths. Just so you know, it's not normal for you to beat an xi.

13.66 for a stock S2000 is kinda hard to believe when most people run low 14's...but it does sound like the guy knows how to drive so

Yeah I know, and I didn't believe the he could run a 14.1 with a stock CL-S with just 1200 miles on it either, but he really knows what he's doing.

His name is Silverstreak, he's a mod, you can ask him yourself. But I do agree that's it'd be hard to believe.

Yeah, I realize I shouldn't beat a 330xi in any circumstance, but I was stoked that I did.....even if the guy drives like my mom.

I also played with an S2000 last night coming home on the freeway...I always forget how fast and tight those cars are
