so tonight i was driving my moms tsx 6speed and i was driving around with my brother and he was like dude we need to run so i agreed. we stopped ad he was like okay so u go and ill go right after you. he was thinking he was gonna win. (keep in mind stock 04 tsx vs 97 maxima i/e/p/v) so i go and hes right behind but then i looked back after 3rd and he was like 2 cars back!!! hahah damn was i proud of my moms cars haha wish it was mine but so we turned around and he was stopped wanting to go again so i pulled up and hes like "holy shit thats not fair blah blah blah excuses excuses and so on about how he launched later and bs like that so we went againg and the kid goes 3....2....1 and he went on one i was waiting for the GO so i went and spun FOREVER and then i caught and was maybe a car nehind and was catching up and he saw this so he turned on his 4-ways and slowed down and tried to claim a victory it was fun

Whoa slow down for just a minute here... '96 Max's are no slouch and with i/e alone he should be low 15's or better, not benchmark racing here, but something went wrong when he lauched or his car is barely running due to serious piston ring seal issues. I love the look and feel of the TSX but it's simply not that quick. Try running him one more time next to eachother.

Edit: I just re-read your post and saw that you did race again, this is something wrong with his car, or he doesn't have the mods he says he does for something like that to happen.

Word...The TSX aint that quick it handles like a champ, but with mods you shouldn't keep up with that Maxima..That kid needs driving lessons..Good run either way...

okay so i talked to my brother today and he said the secong run he was slowing down when i was catching up to him but first run i launched and then he did and i had a good launch so yeah he iis runnin low 15's so yeah but i was proud

That's cool man, again the TSX is a really nice car, just wish it had more under the pedal. But nice runs anyways...

Yes...it has a Kseries motor but different breed..the rsx has a K20..the TSX has a K24. And i wouldnt say that the 97 Maxima is really that fast.. its a 6cyl with a 3.0liter pushing 190HP..and 205TQ that wouldnt make the Maxima a beast on the street in stock form..but your saying he had mods..that would make it a different story..the advantage goes to the mods..so i dont think the other guy knows what he's doing behind the wheel..but a win is a win

yea when the tsx first came out i really liked the styling and the aero kit it comes with - looks really nice.. but then when i heard it was 200 hp crank the though of buying it didn't cross my mind again. It'd get it if it had at least 240hp, but then isn't that direct competition with the accord?

Was the Maxima a manual? Don't let the 190hp fool you. Maxima 5spds are light, and have tons of punch off the line. A stock 97 Maxima 5spd will demolish a TSX. Maxima's run mid-15s stock, or that's what I've always heard.

The Maxima weighs about 250lbs less, has ~40lb-tq more... Maxima > TSX. Period.

4th generation 5-speed Maxima's are no joke indeed. They have 190hp/205tq stock, and only weigh around 3000-3100 lbs. In stock form they run low to mid 15's. With a couple of cheap bolt on's (cai, y-pipe) they are easily into the 14's.
