I have a blue CL-S. I was parked on the right side of track, near the second set of stands.

I wanted to be able to see the tree better so I was further away.

Nah... I didn't run. If I can make it up there on June 8th, I will run the car then. I was watching to see what to do since I have never run a car on a 1/4 track. I was there more for information, and this friday will be trial and error.

The car is pretty quick, so I am curious how much time will be shaved off from CLS6SpeedNupe's time. I think the best stock was low 14's...

Man I didnt know you had all that stuff done to your car, you should have came and said wassup to me. I would have ran the car for you and sent you home with a couple mid 13 timeslips, lol. Actually if I was you I wouldnt even run the car until you got some DR or high quality track tires on some 16inch wheels. If you dont all your gonna do is make yourself angry by having no traction each run and run a bunch of 14s. I only say that because trying to get a 2.1 60ft with stock power took 1 hour of practicing lauching thursday night, so think about what your gonna be up againts . You also need torque dampers. I promise you that if get the torque dampers and the DRs alone you will pull some good times that will actually reflect the HP the car is making.

Alot of people say that our cars are not track cars but I tollay disagree. I mean yea they make a lot of power or whatever, but you cant expect to add more power to something already powerful and not upgrade the way power is being put to the ground. For example, i ran 14.3 @ 96 wit a 2.1 best 60ft. If I added my intake, header and crank pulley right now and go back to run with what.....maybe 30HP extra now???? maybe a little more??.....I would be going back out wit a car that is now 13 seconds capible but when I run it I KNOW im going to end up running slower than stock at like a 14.4 to 14.5 all because im going to be running so much more power now that traction off the line is going to suck because I didnt do nothing to compensate for the added power, this is why when i install all that in in a few weeks im going to install the front and rear torque dampers just to help, then towards the end of the summer when im ready to run a 75 shot of nitrous im getting a set of 16s on DRs with full suspension....AHAHHHAHAHAHHA. This is all my opinion based on my observation and years of track experience. I personally know a guy around here with a CLS6 that ran 14.2 with just intake consistantly and added intake header exhaust and was running 14.4. His driving ability wasnt a question, but his problem was what I said, no traction compensation for the added power. Anyway man you can go ahead and run that beast friday, I might come watch.

Oh these are the tires im running, I know they are far from what the dealer normally puts on cars, but I got my car from carmax and they put them on the car right before I bought it. At the track I had the tire pressure set at 28lbs. I wonder if I had let it down more and lauched a little harder how much more I could have got out my times, but i dont know because my MPH was consistant 96 no matter what my 60ft time so i think the car was running its max stock top end power.

Darn....didnt mean to give this long lecture, enjoy

You are absolutely right. I need to get the power to the pavement, because the car is quick. I have been reading about folks on the forum who have used engine torque dampers but I am a bit leary of the feedback. I am a stickler for installing components specifically made for my car.

I am looking at going with TEIN Basic Coilovers, lower the car an additional 1/2 inch in the front and a quarter inch in the rear. Next I have 03 Accord 6 Speed V6 wheels for winter use, with the same tires you have. Hopefully, that will elimnate the front end from lifting too much, and keep it planted.

I know that Ingalls make a damper for the 03-06 V6 Accord, so I will see if that part is compatible with the CL-S.

Thanks for the feedback...

Suspension is definitely important. I had a couple vids from when I went to the track for the first time a couple weeks ago and I was surprised at how bad the rear sags during WOT. Just sitting, the car looks perfect and isn't angled but suspension (probably Tien SS, so I can stiffen the rear and lower the car in general) is one of my next steps. I also need to put the rear torque damper in to eliminate even more of the wheel hop. Although it's not intended specifically for our cars it does work. I can spin the tires a lot easier now and that's only with the front one installed.
Like Nupe said it's all about putting the power down. I went to the track expecting to be able to run low 14's or a 13.9. I've got headers, intake and pulley and only had a best of 14.4. So after a couple tweaks when I go back later this summer, hopefully I'll be able to achieve those numbers.

The '03-'06 Accord parts are generally not compatible with the CL-S. 98-02 Accord parts usually are.

Your 18" wheels and tires are going to hurt your short times for sure.

I ended up removing my supercharger from my 6-speed because it was just impossible to get traction and when I had traction the clutch would slip.

I had much better luck with the supercharged automatic despite less horsepower.

If I were you I would practice launching in 2nd gear.

Launch in 2nd gear? Hold the RPMs at 3 grand and let it go?

I need to find someplace where I can practice and put all this information to the test.

I am going to read the thread on engine torque dampers and see what I can do to help get the car planted on the track.

There is one thing I have noticed about Capitol. It seems as though the track slopes downhill a bit. It could have been where I was standing or an optical illusion but it just appears that way.
