Maximum car engine mileage
This may sound like a trivial issue, but I would like to know what's the maximum lifetime for a car engine assuming normal driving use and proper maintenance? The most miles that I put on a car was about 60k. Since I now drive longer distances to work, I put about 30k miles every year. I'm hoping that my '01CL can last for 150-200k trouble-free miles. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Before I sold my 90 Integra and before the speedometer broke, I had logged about 168,000 miles on it. I'm sure when I got rid of it, the car had over 200,000 miles on it.

oh it's you'll rack up 150,000 - 200,000 miles just fine with this acura. even if you drive is insanely, the vtec engine and quality parts do hold up pretty well. you know you can listen to me, i drive every car to the limits of heavy duty use.

Last I heard from an Acura dealer is that cars like the Integra *needs* to be opened up a couple times a month.
There's something called carbon buildup or some crap. Since Integras are born to rev, just rev them.
I believe that Honda/Acura cars are really reliable. I think you'll probably get over 100k easily without any major problems (engine/transmission).
When I owned my 93 Integra (GS), around 40k miles, I drove home one day and I acidentally shifted the auto transmission to REVERSE...and then to PARK...and then back to drive. It freaked me out big time!
I sold my car to get this new CLS. I had around 93k miles. It never failed me. No problems whatsoever.
So don't even sweat it. It's normal wear and tear. There's probably gonna be another CLS that will be better...so when it is born, trade it in.

We had a honda civic that had close to 300k miles on the original engine. No joke. It didn't burn oil even up to the day she was rear ended.

Yep... I'lll echo what others have said. 200K is easily attainable out of this engine. My aunt had a '90 Accord that they did NOT take care of at all. It's first major repair came at 156,000 mi. They just decided to junk it then! So, if a neglected car can go that long without a repair, a well maintained one can easily go 200K +
Oh... and to specifically answer your question... the maximum lifetime of an engine is HUGELY variable... even it it is well-maintained. I'd say anywhere from 250K to well over 1 million miles.
