Hi i was wondering if anyone had a matte black cl. I have painted mine matte black and was wondering if anyone else has done this because i wanted to see what brand paint they used. The paint that was used on mine was called SEM hot rod black but i wanted to see if there was anything with a slight more shine or more like a satin black because i feel this color is way too flat. Since i am an idiot i can not figure out how to put the pictures on this site so if anyone is interested in posting them i will email them to whoever is willing.

 

I use to sell the sem hot rod black before.
I think it even came in a little kit (box)
Alot of the drag racers use it.
Your local paint store will let you check out there sem,HK,PPG color books.
Most places will custom make you a color on spot.
I think I seen some new mustangs the other day wearing a nice flat black color.
Don't know If they were special ones since I don't follow stangs too much but, there was 2 driving together and looked identical.
I broke my neck on the first one,then did a double on the second.
The color looked good,right up your alley

 

There is a 1st gen CL in matte black...only one ive seen.

I've been long thinking about getting my car repainted the Nighthawk Black with a satin finish. I'll probably do it once I'm out of debt. :-D

 

I saw a silver merc that was wrapped flat white with wrapped flat black roof.

 

I only like flat black cars that are done up (lowered, rims, breaks) I think they look fast for some reason but its got to be sporty to begin with, or it will look like your just broke LOL

i dont think the cl's round lines would look good with a matte black paint job. satin is sexier

 

Ive seen a TSX with matte black looks weird not my taste. Im more of a pearl type guy but not the cameleon type hahaha

Hmm interesting, pics could have been a little clearer. Looks alright, I like how you left the "A" badge on the back. It needs something tho that I can't put my finger on. Maybe window tint?

car doesnt look good in that color however. plus you need tint and some contrasting wheels.

 

that paint looks sick! +1 on the tint. someone else said matte black cars need to be fully done and i agree. needs a lip kit, RJ? lol and i would love to see better pics

 

are those really the three best pictures he had of his car? The jury's still out for me. Those pics make it just look like a dirty Anthracite CL.

 

From whats been posted, Im going to say the CL does not deserve a matte paint job. Get some tint though.

i actually do have tint just not on the back window because it was broken and i had to replace it and i do have the chrome molding around the side windows it just looks black in the pictures for some reason. yea sorry about the poor pic quality i dont even own a camera my friends gf took the pictures with her camera. The car looks much better in person and i live in staten island so if anyone is close and wants to check it out in person let me know.
