Manual transmission for the CL-S

Can someone please explain to me why Acura/Honda don't want to produce the CL-S in a manual tranny. It would be soo much faster.

Overall, I have noticed that acura/honda don't like to make V6 cars in stick. Look at the 2-door accord's. You can't evev custom order one in stick from honda..

I miss the stick shift. SS is cool, but not the same.

Easy. 5% of the legends they sold in 94-95 came with a stick shift. They had difficulty selling them, even with a six speed tranny.

That was a fun car. (yes, i was one of the 5%)

I agree- they should be able to be ordered from the factory. Acura is slowly taking BMW customers away... maybe we'll see one in tl/cl/rl... soon...

I do not care much about a manual... used to drive one MB for few years.

What I am interested in getting out an SS shifter as fast as a manual... Then why the heck you need a manual if SS is as fast as a manual. Also, give me a 6-speed SS, I will be

Are there any transmission chips for our cars?? I think if the switch would be faster and harder, it would be better. It takes to damn long to switch now!

Yeah I don't see a mannytrans for our car in the near future unless demand grows huge like it did for the is300 to get one

Level10 will do custom tranny work for CL's.

They just released some tranny upgrade that is supposed to make shifts much faster and crisper.

And Im with Nashua... I don't want no stick either. I want a SS that has immediate response... like the F1 trannys on Ferraris (and soon the new M3)

Screw the manual tranny and give me a decent 4th gear! The CL tranny acts more like a 1-2-3-5-6 than a 1-5.

Guess that explains the excellent gas mileage!

It would be a dream if Level 10 would provide a OEM 6-speed, SS trany replacement with programmable firmmer/quicker shifts that can handle an extra 100-150 HP.... WOW... please under $2,000.

I was talking with my friend...a mechanic...and he was telling me that the easiest way to make an auto faster and beat some sense into manual drivers is to put in a torque converter...however, this does compromise drivability....he says you'll always feel like your not moving at low rpms...

I wish it had a TRUE sequential box instead of an automatic with manual gear selection.

A true sequential, as on the Ferraris and Porsches, is basically a traditional manual gearbox that uses hydraulic solenoids to disengage the clutch and shift the gears. It's not an automatic in the traditional sense of the word.

Think about it. A hydraulic solenoid opens the clutch, and then another solenoid actuates the gear selector. It can shift, and re-engage the clutch faster than it would take for one of us to even think about changing gears. That's why the F1 cars use it. It's fast and foolproof.

Paul

Oh yeah, six gears would be nice too!

Hey Soopa,
Is level10 parts that are added or does it just reprogram the computer??

When I bought my 91 Legend Coupe, I had to wait over 6-MONTHS before they finally found a stick shift for me.
They actually found one sooner, but it was white and I wanted only Red, Black or Cashmere Metallic.

The dealer told me that only ONE out of every 100 Legends was a Coupe.
And only ONE out of every 100 Coupes was a stick shift.

I would consider trading my CL-S if they came out with a true manual, but a mod for faster shifts would bring a smile to my face as well.
