Man was my car a ticking this morning! It sounded like a 1980 Oldsmobile low on oil!

There was a lot of ticking coming from the drivers side rear tire and the normal light ticking from the engine compartment was alot louder than usual. It sounded like a piece of shit. Of course....after the drive to work it sounded fine...but it sounded like shit this morning. I only have almost 25K miles....I'm thinking of switching to Mobil 1 synthetic....maybe it will be a little quieter on cold starts.

I think you should just switch to a Z and be done with it.

They replaced the fuel pressure regulator and somethin else too.

Mine never really ticks too badly.

Mine does that, too. Left rear tire. Anyone know what this is? Fuel pump maybe?

I had the same problem. Took it to Acura and they told me that our engines are designed to drain oil from the engine when the car is not running. This is to prevent build up on engine parts. Once you start the engine the oil is then circulated through the engine. That's what accounts for the clicking heard during start up.

There were a lot of theories on the noise from behind the driverside door. I believe it came back as some sort of sensor or something, mine only seemed to do it during the winter, maybe winter gas or something?

dude, the Z isnt even that expensive, and on top of it, used ones are everywhere, considering your equity in the CL, your payments would be shit, just GO for it, imagine how good its gonna feel when a week from now, you are rolling in your Z!!!!!

The ticking noise is "normal".

It's the evap valve and it tends to be louder when cold.

its amazing the self restraint you are showing nicky, i mean come on, if you ditch the CL for a 350z, what, your payments go up by 100 bucks?? thats nothing, and it sure as hell aint enough to stop you from getting a townhouse or whatever, its nothing. you only live once bro, you gotta do what you want and not always look to far ahead because youll miss whats goin on NOW. look at it this way, your CL's trade in WILL CONTINUE TO DROP LIKE A ROCK. so why wait another year? next year, youll probably be lucky to get 10k on trade in while now you could probably squeak out 15k or so. at the end of the day, you are doing yourself a disservice by waiting, additionally, youll have to sell your rims, thats some money in your pocket, sell whatever other mods you can take off, youll be good to go. theres no way buying a car now, and upping your payment slightly is going to have any effect on when you can buy a house, period. GO FOR IT!!!

The 350Z is a good 2nd car...which is what I realized. I really want to keep the CL and eventually buy a toy 2nd car.....another 1993 Vibrant Red Cobra....a 2003 Cobra....a used C5 Corvette. The CL is by NO MEANS a pile....and I still like it. If I had my way...I'd keep the CL...buy a bike....then A condo....then a 2nd car.....and pigs may fly out of my ass!
