Maintenance Required light

Is it normal for you maintenance req light to blink 5 or 6 times when you start your car?? It then shuts off after......

The intervals between the blinks will get shorter and shorter as you approach the maintenance mileage (7.5k, 15k, 22.5k, 30k, etc).

The light will eventually stay on when you exceed the maint. mileage. When I called my dealer to schedule a maint. appointment, they said 2 weeks !! so I reset the light myself (in the manual or look in the FAQ forum).
