Maintenance Required Light

I have an 01 Type S. The light will start flashing about 1500 miles after any serivce and just stay on all of the time about 2000 miles after service. The car is not driving or running any different than it ever has. Does anyone else have this problem? What could cause this light to come on so early?

If it bothers you (as mine does), why not reset it. I'll save you the standard "do a search" and tell you how ... while holding both the RESET and SELECT buttons (for your odometer), turn the ignition key to the on position (do NOT start the car). Hold everything for about 10 seconds. The MRL will flash and then go out. Voila.

In my experience, the dealer doesn't reset the switch, ever. So it really isn't coming on "early" Follow those steps and it will be reset.

^^^ I never even thought of that. They want me to come in and spend more money. Crooked dealers.

I wouldn't call them "crooked" I doubt any dealers do it. It is something that is easily done on your own.
