My maintenance light turned on yesterday and I know its time for an oil change. is it possible that it turned on because of this?

My car has 38500 miles on it, and I bought it certified from a dealer w/ about 32000 miles.

 

if he reset your light at 32000 miles then thats why it's is coming on now, the light has no idea what your current mileage atually it

all it knows is how many miles past since it was reset the last time
