maintainance required

I need a suggestion. my maintainance required light comes on every time I start my car. I have 6000 miles on my car. I have done oil change twice so far. Did anyone else have this problem and what can I do if I don't want to go to a dealer?

if it comes one momentarily for a few sec and goes away, then it is normal...

if it stays on, you'd better take her to the doctor

if it won't go off, it means whoever changed your oil forgot to reset it...
all you have to do is this:
take the key out of the car, now hold both the trip select and the trip reset button. Put in the key and turn it to ON, while still pressing the 2 aforementioned buttons. Wait about 10 seconds or until the maintenance required light goes off....VOILA

Astroboy is correct, that light isn't "intelligent" so to speak, it has no idea when you changed the oil ...

The light does stay on longer after 6k miles, and will stay on once you hit 7500.
They don't reset after oil changes. They only reset it after scheduled maint. It is designed to come on as a reminder for maint.

HEY! stop and think for a sec, you can get your oil changed anywhere for $15, or you can use the best synthetic oil on the planet and it costs you $20 just for the oil. i like to take care of my baby ...
