Lowering Springs

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, I am just a newbie...

Has anyone ever heard of Sprint Springs? I found them on this site (http://impactparts.com/Suspension/in...t_Springs.html). They state these will lower the car 1.75 both front and rear, if so, do I need to purchase camber adjusters?

I read on this forum somewhere (tuners guide or FAQ) that anything over 1.5 inches of drop requires a camber adjust.

blackmagiCL_S just so you know, i'm not directing this at you, i'm saying this in general for everyone on Acura_CL.com

It's not that anything over 1.5" drop "requires" a camber adjustment.

After ANY drop an alignment is simply RECOMMENDED to ensure that your alignment is proper after the lowering no matter if you have a 1.5" Comptech drop or a 2.2" Neuspeed drop. The $40 alignment check is to ensure your tires alignment, camber, and toe are correct so they [tires] do not wear unevenly. toe is the item to worry about causing the worst damage to your tires and rims (i know that from past experience). After the alignment then you can decide if you need the camber kit. Some drops of only 1.5" need a camber kit.

They develop Camber kits for cars lowered up to 1.5", made by Comptech, and camber kits for cars lowered more than that, made by Ingalls. If you didn't ever need a camber kit for a lowering of 1.5" why would they offer them for our car.

Comptech sells springs which lower our car 1.5" inches, but then sell camber kits that only fit cars lowered up to 1.5" so why would anyone think that you don't need a camber kit just because you have a 1.5" drop.

It's all for safety and security and to make sure your car's alignment is set properly. EVERYONE should get an alignment after lowering to make sure their car is right. if it doesn't need a camber kit, at least you invested the $40 to make sure that your car is safe. $40 to be safe i think is worth it especially if tires run $100 or more per tire!

slyraskal...how do you know if I need the camber kit? You stated that some do and some don't? After I get the alignment, will they tell me if I need to purchase a camber kit?

Well, if i remember right, the correct values for our alignment are listed in our owner's manual.

In addition, when you get an alignment they should tell you if your car is out of alignment or not, they should also provide a printout that has what your measured values are for alignment, toe, and camber. if any of these are off they will tell you, or you can check for yourself in your manual.

Based on these results you can determine IF you need a camber kit, and what kind of camber kit to purchase, because depending on how bad your camber is you'll have to buy a camber kit that correct's your camber for that certain amt of degree correction.

if you need more info on that i believe ingall's has some information on their website.

if u have any more questions shoot them my way, be glad to help.

Just go with Comptech and save the hassle.

I needed a camber kit with the H&R drop.. but a lot of other people didn't. It depends how your car sits with the drop as every car will settle differently.

exactly my point, each car is different and that's why they recommend the alignment to check if each car is ok after the lowering.

Interesting enough, I have a 2 something inch drop and I can clearly see that my cambers are fucked up (no camber kit), but amazing as it is, I'm not experiencing premature tire well as quickly as I tought i would...although once I get better tires and/or rims, I'll definitely invest in some cambers.
But as far as the Comptech drop...I doubt you will experience any sort of super quick premature tire wear. Of course you should get an alignment by all means, but if your off by 1 or even 1.5, I don't know if it's necessarily worth spending the money for cambers.

peiqinglong is right, it all depends on just how far off your camber is, that is what will determine if you want to invest in the camber kit or not, but the only way to know for sure is to get the alignment.
