I hate the CL Paint!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate the CL Paint!!!!!!!!!!!
This is getting rediculous! I already have a ton of little chips (after only 15K miles), but I this morning, I noticed a huge chip (about half the size of a penny all the way to sheet metal) with the surrounding paint cracked and broken. There is no dent in the metal, so the impact couldn't have been that bad. I love my car, but paint quality is one obvious area where Acura cut costs in order to bring this car in at $30K. Going to the dealer to bitch today
The paint on all cars nowadays stinks. Every car board I've lurked on has similar complaints.
The only thing you can do is take steps to prevent it, like a clearbra. I got one installed when I bought my car. So far I've done 14k miles, 95% freeway, and I only have 1 chip on my hood on a section that the clearbra doesn't cover.

ive got a 2 door dings....and my front bumper is scuffed to shit, cant wait till spring so i can put the OEM bra back on and cover that shit up....
BTW, have you guys ever looked closely at the bottom of the doors and the rocker panels when your car is up on a lift??? i got my oil changed the other day by a mechanic freind of mine and i was in the shop the whole time and boy oh boy, its really hard to tell when the car is on the ground and under regular lighting conditions but when the car is up on a lift under flourecent light, you can see that the rockerpanel is painted like shit, all splotchy, like a fucking MACCO paint job!!! looks like cheap ass bondo or something, the rocker panel and the bottom of the door look all cheap, like it was repaired...but its not possiblt that it was repaired because i bought the car brand new....next time you get the car on a lift, take a GOOD look at the rocker panels and the bottom of the doors, the quality of the body and the paint down there is shit.

I really wish people would stop busting Acura for this.
ALL NEW CAR PAINT SUCKS !!!
I’m sure some are better then others, but everyone I know with cars that are 1-3 years old have the same problem we do.
Blame the “Safety NAZI’s”, not Acura.
They’re the ones who took all the toxic chemicals out of the paint and made it about as safe as a glass of ice tea.
Today’s paint is WATER BASED and it doesn’t hold up for SHIT.
Maybe the European manufactures have better stuff then the USA because of lax safety over there, but I doubt it.

i respectfully disagree on the clearbra...simply b/c i've seen and heard many "professional" applications going sour after a couple years not from driver or installation error but from normal wearing of the edges and how dirt can get trapped, causing eyesoars of lines on the hood, fenders, and bumper...but a brand new car with the bra on looks fine, it's just after a couple years or so, the stick of the bra goes away
