Loud Roaring
I have an 01 cls with 140k miles on it(original transmission). i have this very loud roaring noise coming from my front end. (been doing it for about 35k miles now) i thought that it might be the carrier bearings in the dif, but the noise gets louder and quieter depending on the amount of load put on the car when turning. sounds like wheel bearing roaring, but i've replaced the passenger side and it makes the same exact noise as it did. i've had the tranny checked a few times and it looked good. there were no metal shavings in the filter or fluid. i can't think of anything else it could be.
could it possibly be the bearing on the intermidiate axle shaft? i've never heard of one going bad. this problem is kicking my ass and i have just about given up on it. any suggestions would be appreciated.

it doesn't make the sound until the car begins to move and gets progressivly louder as speed increases. it almost sounds like a flat spot on a tire, or like the brakes are scrubbing.
the pitch of the roar is different depending on which way the car turns. it sounds like a wheel bearing, but it mad the exact same noise even after i replaced the wheel bearing
