Lost control accident again . .  .

Hi all, just have a few question that i am not very clear about the damage that was done on my car.
It happened again, I lost control of the wheel due to wet road condition and brake too hard. Now... very fortunately, no one was involved, no second vehicle, or else everything would have been VERY complicated.
My drive side of the car was rubbing and slaming against the concrete divider of the road three times as i was trying to steer back straight. Air bag did not pop out. The car is not drivable.
visible damages:
1. front tire and rim is bent and tilt inward, and rear tire totally damaged.
2. trunk can not be closed as usual, visible fit problem when i tried to close the trunk.

These two problem is my main concern. I over heard the tow truck guy saying my something axle is damaged, and that my damage is going to be over 5k. Also, is my car body deformed so that the trunk can not be closed evenly ? how will they fix deformed body ?

Please leave any comment or possible damages that you could thikn of in accident like this, that will be very appreciated. I don't want to be screwed by my insurance comnpany. Thank you so much you all...

what kind of car are u driving and how fast were u going ??? sometimes abs and vsa can not fully protect driver or car..they just reduce the risk...do not think the car technology is completely safe for driver and car..u need to drive any car with caution..not just playing and racing and thought the car is safe enough to save u or react...

there is no way to tell what you have damaged by reading your thread, take it to a qualified direct repair body shop and let insurance handle it

Sounds as if there's more to this than you shared. Assuming you have the standard Michelin's, they're pretty decent in the rain so I doubt you hydroplaned unless your tires are worn out. Even if you over reacted taking a turn too fast in the rain, VSA should have prevented what you described. That is unless you were going crazy fast and started sawing the steering wheel back and forth to try and regain control which confuses the VSA to the point it shuts down. The fact it happened to you twice makes it sound like you're driving the car beyond it's limits.

I've got the solution to our cars loosing control. It's called TOYO PROXIES 235/45/ZR17

These puppies will NOT LET YOU LEAVE THE ROAD! I Wished I had these two accidents ago!

As for your problem, Sir, The guys are right. You'll need to take it to a qualified bodyshop. Sounds to me like your car might never drive correctly again. Sorry to say, but when your rim gets bent in an accident, usually your alignments can never be restored.

Good luck

I'd be willing to bet that your other two accidents had little if anything to do with tires. Stating that a particular tire will not let you leave the road leads me to believe driver error was the culprit.

Stability systems and traction control will not prevent an accident if you are driving a car beyond its limits.

A body shop will fix your car by first checking for frame damage which is possible...if the frame is bent...they'll pull the frame and order new body panels from Acura. They'll have to order new suspension from what it sounds like...probably closer to 7-8K...make sure you take it to a good body shop that you know or someone that you know goes to...don't let insurance send you to a cheapy joint. Think of it this way...you can get a new paint job if you want...

Type S: I am driving a 99 CL 3.0 with standard michelins. I always felt that my tires do not grab on the road very well. Whenever I make a turn and accelerate a little, it makes that screeching sound. Anyways, I don't think I was speeding, at least i was not intentionally speeding. I think the main problem was that I braked in the MIDDLE of the turn, I should have brake and slowed down before i ENTER the turn.

Moomaster: Thanx for the precaution. One thing that bother me is that my insurance is going to go up 50% ... I had a 40% discount, which means I was paying only 60%.. now I will be paying 110%... means almost double from what i hvae paid. The good thing is that i get to choose where to send my car to get it fixed. Thats a good news.

rise: Thanx for your sympathy.. I really appreciated. I really was not trying to create a road hazard... just road was very wet... and hit brake at the wrong time...

again, thank you for the suggestions !

Barry H: I dont know if i was pushing my CL3.0 to its limit.. but I think i was doing about 70km/h ... entering onto a bridge via curved ramp of some sort. I think the problem was really i braked when i totally should not have. I wish i had VSA to correct the problem. I am not sure whether the ABS kicked in or not... i doubt it.

AS a note -- ramps are notorious for having cars sitting on them during busy hours. This can mean a drip or two of oil and/or coolant from cars sitting can make for a rather slippery ride. VSA will sure help, but even great tires aren't too happy sliding on a layer of rubber, glycol, and oil.

So, if the tires were quiet (the stock Michelins will normally squeal like pigs at the cornering limit) you may have just been very unlucky.

Good luck.

If you get a good dealer recommendation, you also might want to check with the local Auto Club and/or some friends. Finally, if you are ready to park the car, check to see what the fixed cars look like. You may not be able to check out any "hidden" tricks, but you can at least get a feel for the grade of work they do. The "class" of vehicles being worked on at the place can add to the picture...

Man I'm sorry to hear about your accident I have lost control in the rain when I was pushing the Alero doing about 80 in pouring rain. That was dumb, but if you start to slip a little never hit the brakes try and shift down and steer out of it. I hope everything gets fixed right and don't get ripped off for the Factory rims. As for your math it is a little off. If you were paying 40% less. and now it will go up you are not going to be paying 110%.
Example $2,000 a year for Insurance. Then you get a 40% discount which brings your Insurance to $1,200. Now after the accident you pay 50% more which will bring your costs to $1,800. What i'm trying to say is you will be paying about 90% of what it was before your discount. Hope everything goes well with the car repair. Anthony
