Looking for a little help (2000 TL 6spd conversion)

As it says im looking for a littel help from the 6 speed owners and any given would be greatly appreaciated.

I have a 2000 2nd Gen TL that just had its 5th tranny crap out. I just picked up a 6 speed manual and am going to do a conversion myself. (including a type-s engine)

What i need from you are some pics.

1). I need to see some pics of where the clutch master cyl is mounted,
2). If possible where the clutch pedal is mounted.
3). A good pic of the center console (any one know if its the same length as the TL as ill have to replace for the parking brake)

Thanks in advanced

Kris

Kris, It might also be a good idea to buy the Helms Service manual and Electronics manual for the CL (6spd is covered in the regular CL SM). Lot of pictures in there...

I'll have to look up in the Helms to see where the clutch master cyl is mounted, because I have no idea where to begin looking for it

Purchased the helms for the CL. hopefully the wiring isnt that much different from the 2000 TL.

Another Question, does the 6 speed have ABS, and TCS?

ABS yes...

The 6spds don't have TCS (traction control) or VSA (vehicle stability assist).... that's for pussies...

We've got LSD (limited slip differential)... that's what real men need...

Kris, if you search for cupholder(s) you might find some pics of the console... Also look in the A/V forum... Head units and navi conversions might show some console pics...

I can't figure out where the slave cly. is, but I think it's near the reverse lockout solenoid (or backup switch)... I need to look at the helms and my car at the same time to figure out where the slave is, and it's dark out

I'll try to snap some pics this weekend...

CL (sometimes called CLP's) have TCS, CLS w/ auto have VSA, and the 6spd has no traction control whatsoever (just ABS and LSD).

The rear header has a bend in one of the pipes...

http://community.webshots.com/photo/...45208346EAvkeB

Fuzzy02cls found another source for 6spd headers (other then CT):

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=headers+bend

You can find more info searching for header bend... and headers bend

I really wish that the DC sport headers would have been made for the 6spd...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178101 (notice there is no bend).

The auto headers w/o the bend don't fit the 6spd, but the 6spd headers w/ the bend WILL fit the auto...

edit: Kris, it snowed today, so I didn't get a chance to take pics... I'll try to do it soon... I need to crawl under my car anyways to check the RMS (rear main seal)... Going in for the 45K service soon, and the warranty runs out at 50K... Gotta make sure I don't have the RMS problem (J series issue, I think there is a TSB on the accord for it).

Your spot on. The rear header has to have that bend due to a shock on the rear engine mount on the 6 speeds.

Kris, the difference in weight between the CLS auto and 6spd is only 64 lbs...

3510 vs. 3446

Maybe the tranny weighs 150 less, but with the added extras (clutch pedal, extra motor mount, etc) it makes up for the differences in the overall weights

Yeah, the timing belt might need changing too Kris, while you've got the motor out

Yea i guess i wont have to worry about changing the timing belt om my engine any more, but atleast people know that it can make it to 200k. With the new engine (52k) ill probably change teh timing belt while the engine is out.

I just started searching for the tranny and found a place that had one.

Any one know what the different style mounts are for (like why do they have the shock style)?

Got the manual today, packing invoice says 97 lbs. I was able to pick it up with 1 hand. you cant even begin to lift the auto with even 2. Id seriously say there is a 150 lb difference

Im going to try to get my hands on a buig hanging scale to weigh the 2. There arent any parts that the manual has that would make up weight that the auto doesnt (like shift cables ect..)

The only things I can think off is the clutch pedal setup and the extra motor mount... Not sure what else they could have added weightwise...

is the header different because of the different rear mount? I cant see any reason not to use the TL mount i have and not need a different manifold

Ive got the 2 lined up and there is no clearance issue

Maybe Brett will chime in....

I always thought the 'extra' mount was to act as sort of a torque strap... a manual car will have it's engine torqued around a bit more then an auto... Maybe the clearance isn't needed at rest, but only went the clutch is being dumped

Ok. I wondered what the shock style mounts were for, or if needed.
