Great car but it is a boat at 3800lbs. You can make it handle better and make it faster but its still pretty heavy. RWD helps and not sure of the weight distribution but the weight on the stock suspension are gonna make it ride like a boat.

Pics of multiple "boat" GSs taking out the Dragon's Tail.

A stock GS will run around a stock CL-S. My best friend has a CL-S, I know the car inside out, he knows my car inside out. Before I modded my car, I would beat him on any corners and he would beat me in my car in any corners. It is only a "boat" stock over speeds of 80mph.

One of the main reasons the GS won multiple awards and contests was it's sports car handling or close to BMW handling.

I've driven the Dragon's tail with minimum handling mods and enjoyed it (and shocked everyone of how I was ahead or kept up) and now that I have full suspension mods, the car handles with the best sports sedan.

Those cars don't look stock Reread my line. Not to mention that at 3800 lbs its still a pig Who said anything about the CLS being a great handling car

I thought I read a story about a GS4 trying to keep up with an M3 or something on the twisties and wiping out.

Ferizzo, I said those were pics of us in the mts. I did not say we were stock. FAR from stock Yes 3800lbs is still a fat pig and with me in it 4000lbs plus

I did not see the part of the GS wiping out? And hell, I've seen BMWs wipe out too and S2000s at the track.

Hell, I lost it (stock) upon initial acceleration vs a M roadster. My dumb ass floored it at a 90 degree curve, I had the VSC off, all 300 horses hit the rears and next thing u know I lost it and went over the damn median. Not too fun.

I will defend my statement that the car is not this terrible handling car stock.

I didn't say it was but I did say its a boat...you know floaty...like a TLS. It certainly handles better but to say its not a boat or not floaty....afterall it is a luxury car primarily targetted for people in their 40s and 50s and not people like us who want something sportier.

I just wanted to make it clear that I was referring to Stock GS4s. All cars can be made to handle pretty well...even the TL. Not as well as others but I've sure a TLS with the right suspension would do just fine.

I was not referring to the GS wiping out in that particular thread. Quite honestly I was referring to the incident you mention here about yourself because I read it in the clublexus board a while back. I just couldn't find the thread. Again my point was that the GS has its limitations stock.

Yup, I brought up my story to be un-biased. And we lost a few threads moving to a server once and damnit, that was one of them. Pics and all.

From the 215/60/16s on stock GS 300s and 400s to the factory 245/45/17s make a big difference in the floatiness. I think a Town car is a boat, that car is ridiculous.

OK it certainly isn't a town car! The again I think the TLS is a boat because its heavy and somewhat big. Not huge but big. Tires make a big difference which is why I can't wait to get some new tires next spring.

I appreciate you mentioning your story and being unbiased.

1sicklex,
you are right.
gs4 rocks. may ride soft but it took my TLS new summer tires, and springs/shocks to finally surpass the GS stock!
It may be heavy but can still haul ass, turns or no turns.

For most drivers, i think a fully modded suspension TLS would be able to slightly take the GS (modded out in susp as well).
I dont have mods on the GS but i know the TL handles well when the stock setup is changed around. Remember, the GS still has more weight, there is no way around that. its susp. geometry might be well engineered, but it cant make the extra 400 lbs disappear.
GS4 still rocks even after 6 years!!!!

The GS400/430 is a great, classy car - RWD, V8, great handling, Lexus quality. You get what you pay for here.
