I'm looking to get into a < 70k mi CL-S A5 in anything but black or red (nice colors, just not my taste). Even better if someone local and well-versed in CLs could help me out. I'm aware of the automatic trans issues and how to determine if they're still covered by the 7/109.

I come from mostly Camaros and Trans Ams - fast, loud and easy to bolt-on as much as 100hp - but squeaky, bulky, and not particularly reliable. My last one is here and here. I sold that off after I was pinched for street racing, when I clearly wasn't, as 316.191 (the drag racing law) was making its dishonorable debut. There's no feeling worse than being harassed and falsely accused.

So I decided to switch it up a little and bought an F-150 after owning only a motorcycle for about a year. It's great to pull the jet skis and boat, but my gf got herself an SUV capable of towing so I have the opportunity to get back into a car.

I chose the Acura because I want something like an Accord but with more style and creature comforts. Despite my preference for a manual transmission, the gf may end up driving it at times.

So there you have it, any recommendations out there?

I have a 2003 CL-S 6 Speed. It has 70k, but its black, and you said you dont want black. I have been thinking about selling it. Has 18" 5zigin wheels on it, P2R Short Ram Intake, P2R Power Plenums, P2R Thermal Intake Gasket, P2R Throttle Body Spacer, and Custom Header.

 

I'm tempted........

What's your budget like? Do you need an auto? Can it be a 6 speed manual?

 

Thanks guys. PowerRev, I'm pretty certain I don't want black or M6. Fuzzy, I'm really looking for an auto. If I wanted to turn a CLS into a performer, I would be looking for a manual, but this is just going to be my daily and I plan to visit friends and family around the state without renting a car. A 4600lbs pickup truck is no way to travel.

Also looking for something stock as I'm very meticulous about mods and I find it difficult to accept someone else's handiwork. If it's gonna be modded, it has to be done my way.

 

Ok, keep in mind the auto sucks with the trans problems. Look in the trans forum & research it.
I would never buy an auto CL of any year.

The 6MT CLS is very reliable.

 

From what I've read, it appears the A5 transmissions replaced 2005 and later have held up fine.

 

Not all of them. There have been 03's that have failed, & some that were not covered under the recall & the owners have been left with the repair bill. Whatever 03 you look at get the vin & have a dealer run it to check if it's been replaced & if it's in the recall.
