Looking to buy 2003 CL-S

I am looking to buy 2003 CL-S 6-sp. There is one around here in reasonable shape with 120K miles. The guy wants 9.5K. Does it sounds like a good/reasonable price? Also what specific things I should look out for? I am new to CL and any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think price is a bit high, check the price on NADA.

and if your buying a CL with miles that high, make sure the 105k service (timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, valve adjustment, etc.) has been performed. That is a big selling point cause the service is like 800-1000 dollars.

check for wraped rotors (pulsing steering wheel when brake is applied) and both heated seats are working.

good choice on the 6 speed though, no tranny problems there.

I believe timing belt was changed at 105K. I am not sure about other items like water pump, valve adjustments, but will double check. I did not noticed steering wheel pulsation when brakes are applied, but there is some steering wheel "shimming" at ~55 mph. I have seen it before, and normally it's poor balanced front wheel (or lost balance weight). Is there anything specific to CL to produce such "shimming"?
In terms of price, thanks for the advice: NADA gives 5.7K for "trade-in" and 8.4K "retail". What would be fair price for private transaction?

I am in Canada, so I realize that prices would be somewhat different, but funny enough CL was priced pretty similar in Canada as in US: 34K vs. 32K in earlier years.

My theft recovery CL-S M/T will be going to auction in Kalifornia soon. I took good care of it while I had it. Can't say what the thieves did to it for the 6 weeks they had it...

No navi or mods, seems to be "stock".
But agree, NAPA numbers look too low....

Thanks, but I did test drive it last weekend: it wasn't very well taken care of, and is in somewhat rough shape.

Guys lets keep all the selling for the Black Market. If you are interested in selling something on this site it must be placed in there.

Good luck on your search Alex.

oh ur from canada??? fak yea I'd be looking in this country for a car from a private seller, so u don't have to pay taxes(much) or duties.

I bought my car in a rush, from a dlr (WORLD FINE CARS, they are FUCKING LIERS), the price was 10800 b4 taxes. which was 12500, then found out it needed 2500 in matenance and fluid changes etc. then found out my tires were fucked, they threw together 4 random MXM4s and said they were like new tires... right.

not saying I don't love my car to death, it's just I could have gotten a better deal... like 2-3 grand better easily. But I was in a rush and didn't think or care about that shyt and had to bite the bullet.

oh....and the after their warranty expired my trans went. Go figure eh

SO

the moral of the story is, FUCK DLRS. I should have bought it from a private seller. (at least it'd be them with my money and not some slimey grease-ball faketicious DLR)

There should be some deals coming up this month or next, with ppl selling their old CL6 b4 hardcore winter comes.. that's when all the good used cars drop

Should I go for it?

The guy drop the price to 8000$. This car has ~120K miles on it, which sort of scares me, but the price looks pretty good now. Should I go for it and get this car?
Obviously after the professional inspection. What trouble spots I should look for?
From what I can see from the records, timing belt/water pump were done, both brakes, ball joints... Anything else can be expected to go wrong that this mileage?

120,000 Km or Miles? There is a thread somewhere here about how to see if the clutch is slipping. Were the shocks/springs done ever? Check for the usual Honda rust spots.
The 6speed is a pretty solid and reliable car if all the regular maintenance is done.

It is 120K miles (or 190K km), just converted it for the convenience of our American friends. I did not noticed anything wrong with the clutch (but I didn't do "traditional" clutch drop at 5000rpm , it's too brutal and unfair to the car), but will ask mechanic to look at it.
Don't know about shocks, but they felt OK. Overall car had a nice feel to it, better than some lower mileage ones I've tested.
What are "common Honda rust spots"?

Common honda rust spots for me are around the wheel wells, exspecially the back ones. And check around the bottom of the doors. Pretty much any place salt would get into from the road, or from someone geting in/out of the car.
