Torrance, Calif. 08/28/2002 -- The all-new 2003 Honda Accord is the most customizable Accord ever with an expanded lineup of genuine Honda Accessories, including new dealer-installed XM Satellite Radio, DVD rear entertainment system, in-dash MP3/digital media player, a hands free system for cell phones and plus size wheels and tires.
The available XM Satellite Radio delivers 100 channels of satellite radio programming that is accessible across the entire country 24 hours a day. With more than 136,000 subscribers as of June 30, 2002, XM Satellite Radio will be available October 1 on the Honda Accord, Pilot and Acura MDX.

The DVD-based rear entertainment system (available on the Accord Sedan for the first time) features a flip down 7-inch high-resolution TFT-LCD screen mounted for use by the rear passengers, a wireless remote control and wireless headphones. The system allows front and rear passengers to listen to separate audio sources and offers separate inputs for video cameras, game consoles or other devices.

The new MP3 Player will play compact discs burned with MP3, WMA or standard audio files. Offering near CD audio quality, more than 10 CD's-worth of MP3 music files fit onto a standard recordable disc.

Additional interior accessories include a 6-disc CD changer, available for the first time as a dealer-installed in-dash unit. The changer provides the convenience of a 1-din CD player with the capacity to hold six discs, yet it does not require a cartridge. A cassette player is also available as an accessory.

Also available for the new Accord is an integrated hands free system for cell phones that works with a wide variety of existing cell phone types and services in the United States. The system allows for hands free operation as the caller's voice is picked up by a microphone directed to the right front speaker. Vehicle audio systems automatically mute and resume in conjunction with the phone call, and the system is auto-answer capable. The cell phone conveniently stores in a cradle inside the Accord's console and re-charges the cell phone while in use. A wide range of cell phone adapters come with the unit.

New exterior accessories for 2003 include plus-size alloy wheel packages specifically engineered to match the Accord's suspension design, providing proper tire clearance and ensuring long service life to vehicle, wheel bearings, suspension joints and wheels. All Accords can be upgraded with 16-inch styled alloy wheels (DX and LX 4-cylinder models) or 17-inch styled alloy wheels, similar to ones available on the potent V-6 Coupe equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission.

A full range of interior and exterior accessories are available for the 2003 Honda Accord. All genuine Honda Accessories carry a three-year/36,000 mile warranty.

the new TL should kick major ass and show up by March 2003 or The accord will eat the sales of the CL and TL like piranah.

But with this accord ( A top winner) u would never wonder why the Honda north America is increasing the NA production capacity by a factor of 2X from 150,000 units to 300,000 units.

Good for Honda dealers very bad for the Acura dealers.... It is life.

Ehhh..nothing to get pisst over. Its a spanking new 2003 model which is in a highly competitive segment so it HAS to do one better then the others. And of course, surprising ppl with more then they expected is always good.

Now if they didnt add all this for the 04 tl model, THAN it would be fuked... but they will so the 04 tl will be plenty nice

And what will the price of the fully loaded accord be? When you throw in the nav, the kiddy entertainment system, the fees for the XM (plus dealer installation), leather and V6, I doubt the new accord will be much cheaper than today's TL/CL. The only feature that kinda irks me is the MP3 player (given that our player has no hookups for one).

they better get that shit in the new TL cause thats some great stuff, i really like the dvd entertainment system and the mp3 playin cds. man all this stuff, plus the navi system, and onstar and XM satalite stereo. All that stuff still cant make the honda accord a nicer car then the cl or tl though.....

Well, don't you think this is part of the reason that Acura is going back to its fall release schedule? The '03 Accord is coming out with all of these bells and whistles, however, the '03 CL/TL has been out since March of '02.

My guess is that they are using the Honda as the guinnea pig on these new features. The '04 CL and the (hopefully new) TL will probably have these features and more.... you just have to wait another year (assuming they go back to fall releases)........
