Long time no post, but need help

I haven't been on the forum in about 6 or 7 months, I've mostly been on corvetteforum.com since I got an 03 vette.

But I was driving home tonight in my 02 cl type s and some very odd happened. I was going about 45 mph and decided I would pass the person in front of me, so I switch lanes and almost floor it, but the car doesn't go anywhere. It actually bucks very hard, almost felt like it gave me whiplash. So I backed off the gas, then tried to get back on it a little and tac just kept going up, up to almost 6500 but the car wasn't going anywhere!!!!

Is this the start of the dreaded transmission problems or something else??

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Damn, that is what I was affraid of. Guess that just means more vette driving time.

If I bring it into the dealer, are they going to do anything for me or are they just going to tell me that they can't do anything until it is totally shot??

So what is the consensus, do I try to get Acura to fix it? Or are they not going to do anything to it until it dies totally??

Or do I just trade it in for something else??

Tell the dealer what happened and they will take it in for a new tranny...your tranny is DEAD!!! I should know I am driving a loaner right now while my tranny is being fixed. How many miles are on your CL?

Pretty sure..

You have the 100,000 mile extended warranty on tranny Im pretty sure right? Just go dealer I talked to teh service guy last week and said just bring it in no problem.. but you need to schedule in advance for that or at least at my dealer and may take up to a week. good Luck

Great, thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to call the dealer in the morning.

When I was last on the forum, I seem to remember it taking a long time to get the trannys to the dealers before work could even begin, is this still the case??

I guess I should expect a rental car, right?

And I know some of you probably think I'm some old foggie since I have a vette, but I'm not, I'm 26.

Thanks again for all answers, I really appreciate it.

Nole, mine has been doing the same thing for 8 months... The dealer says there is nothing wrong with it and they can never reproduce it. Good luck. Does it happen all the time?

Yes, expect a loaner or a rental.

This is what I'm affraid of. I brought the car in once for something similar, but not near as severe. They gave me the same song and dance, that they couldn't re-produce the problem and nothing was wrong.

It has been happening every morning, but today was the worst. I got home and tried to take my fiancee for a ride in the car so she could feel and see it happen, but when we drove it around the block, it was fine!!!!

I guess all I can do is bring it to the dealer and see what they say. If they tell me there is nothing wrong, well..... then I will just have to trade it in for an infiniti Are you reading this acura... :pfawk:

They'll fix it but don't be suprised if they make you wait until it completely dies before they will do anything about it.

2003 Spiral Gray Coupe. It is a new color for this year. Totally stock so far. I've only dragged raced once in my whole life and I did 6 passes. My best time was 13.3 at 105. I think the 60'time was 2.1

Well, I dropped it off this morning. I called the service department at 7am and told the guy what happened. He said that they were "all booked up for today but since this was a serious issue he would fit me in today."

I have a feeling I'm going to get the same song and dance, "we couldn't reproduce the problem blah blah blah" If this happens, I think I'm going to want to trade it in instead of waiting for it to get worse.

If I were to trade it in before the tranny gets replaced, will the hurt the value??

tell them that if they don't fix and you end up in a severe accident because the tranny goes out, the name of thier dealership will change to "NoleCLS Acura". Seriously, given the record of tranny failures, no dealer should refuse to replace the tranny whenever a customer says something in wrong!

Well, all of you were exactly right. I dropped the car off around 8:00am this morning, just got a call at 9:30 telling me that the tranny is done. They are going to replace it and give me a loaner car tomorrow since I cant get there today before they close.

It's weird, I'm not as mad as I thought I would be. I guess it is because I almost knew that it was coming.

Thanks for all of your help to everyone that replied. I'm sure these posts come up all to often nowadays. I will keep you posted and let you know what kind of crappy loaner they give me and how long it will be before the car is fixed.

Sounds like it's all gonna get worked out. I'm glad they didn't give you the run around about not being able to replicate the problem. Hopefully they'll have your car back in a couple days, good luck.
