Loaner Cars?

I called Springfield Acura and they are replacing the actuator motor behind the engine on my CL-S. It's all covered by them of course. I asked about getting a loaner and they said that they will only provide it for people who purchased the car there. Should this be the case?

What the fuck does purchasing the car there have to do with the fact that you are getting your car serviced there? You are paying right now. The assholes at the dealer make more money off of repairs and warranty repairs than they do off of new cars sales, so what is their point? Tell them if they don't give you a loaner car, you will never bring your car back to them. Then rape them on the customer service survey. You need to tell them that since they are making money off of you, they need to appreciate that by giving you a loaner car. I guarantee you, if you BITCH enough, they will give you a fucking loaner. Start dialing....

i know that bloomington acura up here provides loaners no matter where you purchased your car (right MNCLS???) but if you ask, the give you a standard answer of 1 week later availability.

HOLD ON!!!! DO NOT SLAM SPRINGFIELD!!!! MY MISTAKE IT'S OCEAN!!! OCEAN ACURA! OK now that that's over. Ocean has my part for replacement but won't give me a loaner! I don't understand the policy. Are they obligated to get a loaner for me?

They are obligated to give you a loaner about as much as you are obligated to bring your car there. Tell them that you will go to another dealer if they do not give you a loaner. I am 100% positive that you will find another place that will give you loaner. This will also kind of fuck them if they have the part. Warranty returns are sent back to Acura quality for eval. If Ocean ordered a part and has nothing to send back, it is a pain in the ass for them.

I don't know where Ocean Acura is but I can guarantee you'll be treated well at Park Avenue Acura! I didn't buy mine there and I have nothing but high praise for Wayne and his crew there. Make the drive, it's worth it.

I got a plane-Jane loaner Integra from my local dealer last week when I dropped off my CL-S for the headers and sways installation. I asked (politely) about getting a loaner when I spoke with the guy in the service department last Monday to schedule a Wednesday appointment. He said all 8 of their loaner cars were out, but that I should call back Tuesday evening and see if one was available. I did call back Tuesday afternoon, spoke with a different service guy, who said he would make sure one was set aside.

So, I wouldn't think you should always expect to get a loaner on 2-3 day notice, but with a little bit of luck and a little bit of courtesy it will probably work out.

I would have to call bs on that dealer. You/we all paid extra for the acura label and the perks that come along with it. 50k basic warranty, loaner cars, roadside assist, etc. What if you buy your car in California and you move to Texas? Does that mean that you have to take your car to California for service with a loaner car? I think not. I would call the corp. office and let them know what the dealer told you.

Wayneg,

The part that I need is the actuator behind the engine. They believe that the gears are stripped for some reason. I would be willing to bring it to you guys but the thing is I can't really take days off so easily, to diagnose again and repair. I took one off for them to look at it and make to make the diagnosis and now need to take another to bring it in to be fixed (without a loaner). If you were able to order the part from the number on the order copy that I have, could you order it and I could just bring it to you in two weeks time or something when the part comes in? I was going to have my tranny fluid changed, the muffler peeling, and moonroof squeak all done together. If this is a problem I understand but life would be so much easier if a loaner was given so that I could go about business as usual.

My wife gets the gsx serviced at our dealer (Ray Laks Acura) and they gave her a cl-s last time! WTF dude, the service dept. makes more money for the dealership than the sales of cars if it's run right. If they want your service, they'll give you a car or tell them to f@#k off!

The point is that the CL-P owners want to get a CL-S loaner to check it out! The CL-S owners want an RL and so on. Its not the fact that they give you a loaner or not, really!

I would bitch to if I took my CL in and they gave me rusty 87 geo metro!

Ideal conversation...
me: "here is my CL for service."
Acura serviceman: "Sir, your Ferrari 360 spider will be right up. we will have your car for at least a week, have fun!"
me: "KEEP IT!!!!"

Funny you should mention a geo metro... that's what I was given at David McDavid Acura as a loaner car... grrrrrr
They have this thing... where they give loaners through thrifty rentals or something .... and that's what they always do... although they gave me an integra to drive when I first bought my CL and the tint was not quite ready yet.... hmmmm shows you how much they care for me.... but I keep going there since they are the closest Acura Dealership.... the next one is about 20 miles away.... don't wanna rack up too many miles on my purdy CL-S hehehehe

I've never had any problems with the Acura of Ocean dealer, they have always treated me with great courtesy, and has always given me a loaner car when needed. If you ask again, I am sure they will give you one. One ofther question, where is the Park Ave Acura delaer located???

Reminds me of an experience I had when Darren Maynard was GSM at Ramsey Acura.

I brought in my then 2.3 CL and got a filthy, smelly 95 Teg RS with 61k very hard miles. The stereo had one speaker operative and ran like shit. I brought the car back on pick up and commented that the loaner, as nice as it is to get one, is getting a bit rough. We were kidding around and I said to him, "If I had an NSX would I get a 95 piece of shit Integra or would you give me a Demo" After thinking for about 5 seconds, he said, "you would get a 95 piece of shit Integra."

Last year I would probably have a different answer to your loaner car question, but the way the economy is today (read: bad), I would say now is as good a time as any to play the "I'm the fu*king customer or have you forgotten...." card.
