Light weight Rims effect on breaks?

Since I added most every bolt on I can, I'm now turning to reducing the weight of the car. I have some light 17" SSR comps coming, & that should go a long way. Since I'm reducing the rotational mass at each wheel, would the stock breaks work harder, or softer to stop the car? Would my stopping distance be better or worse?

In theory it would help braking. Less weight to slow down, although not that much, but it seems like less rotational mass would help.

I guess I don't know that for sure.

I do know that it helped my acceleration off the line and my 1/4 times too.

Man, seems that nothing works for you. :P

My 1/4 times dropped to 14.65 with just the wheels and mine where 18lbs vs 13.5 . . I'm sure you probably are not comparing your track times the right way. Did you perhaps go with a heavier tire and ended up cancelling out the weight savings? That can happen as the weight of the tire has a greater impact. The further you get from the center of the wheel, the greater the weight impact is. So you could drop 4lbs at the wheel, but add 2lbs on the tire and cancel your benefit out.

Bottomline is that wheel and tire weight reductions help . . no if ands or buts about it.
