let's do an inventory on rattles

ok, here's a small list of rattles we've got so far...if i missed anything, please chime in...i wanna see how competant Rallye Acura is at solving these problems...they couldn't fix my sunroof by the way b/c they don't have the tape for it...Wayne, please light a fire under their asses and tell them how to get the tape

1. Sunroof (most popular so far)
2. Glove Box
3. Rear decklid - i got this issue but can't pinpoint exactly where it is

can't think of anything else.

Haven't had the armrest(yet), but I did have the seatbelt and steering colum..

the steering colum is not bad, only happens once in a while..

but the seatbelt is pretty damn annoying!!

don't have the sunroof rattle yet but acquired the rear deck last week...sounds like crap when my sub hits...the glove box is by far the most annoying...can't silence it and it happens real bad at freeway speeds.

i also have a rattle from my AEM cai...the little support bracket hits the battery housing at ever bump...made a little gasket/foam/electrical tape cover for the bracket end. if i go over a big bump, the air filter will hit against the front bumper.

I've had most of those but they were fixed. Now I get this rattle near the left tweeter in the door. Very annoying.

... or if you lean the seat back, the rattle seems to go away

Some people have put lining inbetween the rear deck and the glass. I believe two people did this and it worked well for them.

There is a pretty big list of rattles/solutions in my FAQ.

Sunroof squeak more than rattles.

I also have things rattling around in my head but this is not Acura's issue.

I had the center console rattle, that was fixed at my last service appointment. I've had the sunroof "wedge" done twice.

Early on, I had an annoying rattle in the back of the car whenever I would go over a bumpy road. I inadvertantly tapped one of the mufflers one day while waxing and it made the noise. Turns out that both of my mufflers were defective--as the welds holding the mesh baffles (not sure exactly) to the inside walls of the muffler had come loose, causing the mufflers to vibrate like snare drums.

Only the passenger seat rattle when empty. Of course, come winter time everything rattles more when cold!

/me looking feverishly for some piece of knocking wood.

Not a single one.

Guys I seriously hope all of you resolve those squeaks n rattles because there ain't nothing nonmechanical thats more annoying than those squeaks n rattles.

Where's the guy who thought up the idea of putting our cars birthdates into our sigs? Wouldn't this be an opportunity for fact finding?

The entire instrument cluster rattled in my car. I took it in for service and Acura applied double sided tape to the instrument cluster mounts. It worked it hasn't rattled since!

that was me i think...i did a thread asking everyone for VIN production # and DOM to determine how many cars were being manufactured a month...the sunroof rattle is more universal...i'd go out on a limb and say over 50% of us have the sunroof issue...enough for Acura to get a service bulletin goin on how to fix it...we're scattered about the rear deck, seats, and glove box rattles (i guess it all depends on how loud u play the music, how many bumps u hit, how hot/cold is your climate, etc etc. so im not sure if more people get the problems early on in production or not...the only thing i noticed comparing early production to more recent production, and i will swear to this until the day i die, is that the leather is a bit softer on the newer models...i've personally tried and firmly believe that the softer materials in later models yield less of a chance to rip...plus, it's much more comfy.

In addition to the sunroof thing (going in to be fixed by my dealer per the SB--thanks Wayne), I got a front arm rest squeak and leather seatback squeak too.

BTW, any of you guyz notice the leather cracking on the driver's left side bolster on the outside next to the drivers door? I know that I rub against it every time I get in and out of the car, and I expect some wear, but it seems to have a lot of cracks. I use Lexol to condition the leather.
