Autolumination.com is a good place. Shipping can take a few days, but I've never had problems with their products.

Talking just did mine after procrastanating awhile

alright first thing. do you use the same bulb that you do for the license plate as the door courtesy lights? i thought you do, but when i installed my license plate light i was going to use the extra light for my dirver side door and it didnt work. i dont know if the bulb is bad or what. second thing how do you get the map light casing off? i can sorta snap it out but my rear view mirror is in the way for me to get it all the way unsnapped. and last thing here are my pictures:

Ok first you are correct, same lights for the license and courtesy, the bulbs are polarized so if they don't work one way flip it around and try it and it should work, a few people have thrown them away thinking they didn't work You know who you are, but anyways with the map light casing, do what you are doing on both sides and then you can either use a screw driver or your fingers from the sides and then you don't have to worry about the rear view mirror getting in the way, its pretty easy just don't force it. Let us know if you have any questions, I hope this helps!

i know that the bulbs are polarized. i put it in and it didnt work, then i took it back out and flipped it around and it still didnt work. that is why i was wondering if they took the same bulb. it really doesnt matter since i need another bulb for the passenger side i was just really trying to see how it looked. i love the license plate led. i think i just need to use a shorter flat head. i was using a long one that stopped right at the rear view mirror. thanks!!

The LED's are very noticeably brighter. If you look at the pics in this thread, its easy to tell. And don't use red...

I used RED for all my lights...tail and turn...and it's extremely brighter.

why not use red? white is just as good.

4 dual filaments for the brake lights

2 one filament for the turn signals

i WTB yellow 1157 Luxeon LEDs. do they even produce 12v yellow LEDs for our cars? i was planning to put them in my ''fogs'' so they would be more like fogs. any ideas? i've looked around ebay and superbrightleds.com and haven't ran into any. or would the best possible solution to that is getting yellow tint. -___-" thats something i don't want to do.

What kind of bulbs are you using and how are they in the day time? I have 24-LED (12 front/12 sides) bulbs for my tails and they can be barely seen in the day light, which can be dangerous. I even had 45-LED bulbs for my turn signals and they too cannot be seen. I don't think the amount of LED matters!

They look so awesome and bright at night, though. But I still put the stock bulbs back on until I can find a brighter LED solution.

Which LED's did you get? Because those are the ones I don't want. I don't need any extra Negative attention brought to my car by having the lights blow in only a short time.

I'm pretty sure it's the 24 LED bulbs that I bought. I don't remember I'd have to look at my Ebay account'

My license plate one started flashing like a strobe. Thank god someone on the road told me cause I dont wanna get pulled over for having a strobe party on my license plate.

I replaced it with another one from inside the car that was working perfectly and now that one is strobing. Anyone know what the deal may be?

I guess I prefer not to light up my license plate and bring attention to it for cops and people looking to write it down.

I've found that just about any LED bulb you buy on the interenet isn't made up to spec to be used in a vehicle. Most of the resistors that are used can't take the ammount of electrical load the vehicle is supplying to it, so they eventually start to fade, which in turn burns out the LEDs. Most bulbs you buy will come with a resistor with either not enough resistance or to low of amperage rating. Most of the resistors I see are 560ohm 1/4 watt, but the LEDs draw too much current for these resistors.

P = power developed in the resistor in watts (W)
R = resistance of the resistor in ohms
V = voltage across the resistor in volts (V)

P=(V^2)/(R)

So your power is roughly 14volts with the alternator running (12 volts from just the battery, which is what most LED bulbs are rated for). The calculated resistor would be 560ohms.

(14^2)/(560ohms)=0.35 watts

and here's with just the battery running the bulbs:

(12^2)/(560ohms)=0.257 watts

So the correct resistor that need to be used in this situation is a 1/2 watt 560ohm resistor, which are bigger than the 1/4 watt resistors, and usually won't fit in the bulb enclosures.

Well it was working fine for about 3 months and then it started. You would think that if it isnt up to factory spec, it would start strobing from the very beginning. Very weird.

Not neccisarily...the LEDs are only pulling .10watts more than what the 1/4watt resistors handling capacity is (.35watts vs .25watts). It's over, but not a lot over. So over the span of (like you said, three months) they begin to fade, and in return, you're LEDs start to flicker and eventually burn out because the resistor isn't doing its job anymore by limiting the current fed to the LED. One analogy could be running your engine past the red line. You can do it, it's alright, but if you keep doing every time you drive your car something bad's going to happen.

Yeah I got around to doing this over the weekend. I did not like the attention brought to my plate. I put the stock bulbs back in.

I did swap my back up lights with the led bulbs though. That I like.

Are you asking about the replacement LED bulbs? If so, yes, and for the reasons I stated above. Anything that I've soldered myself with has not given me any trouble.

i was actually refering to the LED conversion you did in your dash. speedo, rpm, radio, A/C, etc... but i'll take that as a no they haven't burnt out considering you soldered them yourself?

I have had several replacement LED bulbs burn out on me in the past, which was with my first attempt at the conversion. After realizing what was going on, I began to solder and glue in my own LEDs and haven't had any problems with them.
