The license plate bulb is as easy as taking the old bulb out and putting a new #194 LED bulb in, same with the map lights, door courtesy lights, and the dome light.

Thats what I like to hear, people who have done the map lights or door courtesy or dome do you like them? I have a SMR, maybe red LED's would accent it nicely, thanks for the reply!

I have all the bulbs converted to LEDs, and I like them pretty well. At first I wasn't sure I liked the dome light being an LED, but I got used to it. Plus I didn't think it would flow very well with all but the dome light being an LED.

I'm about to order all new bulbs from Superbrightleds.com but Just wanted to know if you ordered the standard (white) color, or Blue. . . At first I was just going to replace the license plate bulb, but I got the $$, so why not do em' all at once!!!

_Also, Did you use the 5 LED bulbs for everything, or all different ones for the doors/map light/dome light/license plate. . .?

Thanks Alot!~

For the door courtesy lights, the glove box, center console, and the license plate I used the 5-LED bulb from superbrightleds.com. For the map lights, I found the 5-LED bulb wasn't bright enough for me, so I used a 12-LED bulb for each map light. All but the center console bulb is a Super White, which I used a blue bulb. I used the 9-LED festoon bulb for the dome light.

I ordered 2 red ones off of ebay for 5.25 shipped, im going to try them in all the slots to see what they look like, my car is SMR so i was hoping the red would look good, if it doesn't i am going to order all whites and put them in. Im thinking about ordering a few whites right now just for the license plate light, i doubt red would look all that great back there, a little too kiddish. We'll see, here are some pics of the ones I already got.

Here are some pics with the single led reds, Single LED is way to dim, i just ordered 5 led whites for the map lights, im kinda thinking about keeping the red for the license plate cause it looks flush with the tails. Check it out

That is the map light ^ Not bright at all!

The covers to the map lights came off extremely easy, but when i went to grab the bulb it was very slippery and I could not get a grip on them, eventually I used the same small flathead screw driver i used to take the cover off to kinda pop the bulbs out, came out very easy, the license plate light you have to unscrew with a phillips and then same process for popping it out, im gonna order a dome light soon and thinking about trying the reds as the courtesy lights on the doors, that might look good. ill post pics if I do it

I don't know about Texas law, but in most states either red (excluing tail lights of course) or blue lights are illegal to have on your car and are only legal on emergency vehicles. Just don't want to see anyone get pulled over for it.

Not sure how legal it is to have a red license plate light. Might just be more attention you want, esp. from the authorities.

Just searched Google for the new Texas State laws regarding license paltes. This is taken directly from www.txdps.state.tx.us:

SB 439 makes it illegal to add reflective material, lights, emblems or anything else that changes the color of the license plate or makes it difficult to read the letters on the license plate. The name of the state where the vehicle is registered must be visible.

After reading your posts about Texas law, thank you for the research, I took the red out of the license plate and the one out of the map light and put both of them in the courtesy lights, this is where they will stay, at night they look really good, because the courtesy lights dont put off that much light anyways, the reds look real nice, a definite thought for any SMR owner, 2 dollar 2 minute mod that looks good! As soon as the white 5 led's come in I am gonna put them in the map lights and see how bright they look for the license plate.

In the picture it did look bad, but when you stood back and saw it surrounded by the 2 red tail lights, it looked pretty good, I didn't have a good enough camera to get a good pic of that, but i will have one in 3 days, I will get pics of everything then

hey guys, so i got my leds in today.. and took a few pics to make a Smal DIY. its super easy.. and it takes about 7 minutes.

1. u need plyers, phillips head, flat head, and lights lol

2.take off the screws that hold the light onto the bumper

3. take off the two screws holding on the light cover

4. its good to clean the light cover as well with soap and water.

5. pull out the stock light bulb... i used plyers very gently because the bulb was deeper and slippery. the bulb wil slip right out with plyers.

6. put the new Led bulb in. [have ur lights on cuz the prongs have to be on each certain side.]

7. screw cover back on.

8. screw the light housing back onto the bumper.

9. ta dah! pimp ass led lights like the lexus's have. (they are Much Whiter then the picture looks.) this was taken in day time with teh garage closed.

i hope this gave some motivation to order a set of bulbs and DIY.

heres a link to the bulbs. it is liek 10 bucks.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-Bul...QQcmdZViewItem

thanks guy.

Nice job, when I replaced it I never took the whole light cover off so it hangs down, I just took the cover off and took the light out while still attached, post pics tonight of how the light looks installed and on. I should get my lights tomorrow and I'll do the same.

No 194s will not fit in there, you have to get a 3022 festoon bulb. See earlier in this thread for the exact size chart on all bulbs, i suggest superbrightleds.com and order this Product: 3022-x9 LED Festoon bulb $ 2.95 (each). It is extremely easy to take off the cover, a small flat head screw driver placed in the slot along the edge will pry it out. Don't force anything or you may break the cover, it should just pry out. Good Luck

6 should be good for the licence plate light, but for the interior it just won't be bright enough
