Learned a cool trick for your 2001 cls

All thanks to Ult for this one.

I didn't know that you could leave your lights on, turn off car, get out, lock the car and the lights will turn off in 15 seconds. The cool part is that when you go to unlock the car, the lights turn on (thinking this would be an awesome feature to go along with remote start).

Ult, turned out very handy tonight at Brown Bar. Chatting with some friends and this AWESOME looking hottie from London about cars. When asked about what I drive now, I simply turned to the ceiling-to-floor window that faced 8th street and unlocked the car. Uwwwww, Ahhhhhh, Ohhhhhh. I parked right on 8th, 30 ft from the bar, directly facing. Didn't even have to say a word.

So what happened with the hottie? Was she so impressed by your ride that she got all hot and wet and asked you to take her right there? (Sorry man, my mind is kind of wandering tonight )

Hollywood, nice job. Glad to hear it came in handy. So when she woke up this morning, did she take your Acura's keys with her?

it takes more than pretty head lights to pick up women... more like some *bling bling* to catch my eye.

Evening all,

Yeah, it's in the manual, and of course I had to try it out when I got the car...funny thing is...my salesperson NEVER MENTIONED IT...not once. It's these kinds of features that you ...discover...that are great, but they'd probably be good selling points also.

Dumb question - if you then start your car with the lights already on does this strain the battery and alternater unnecessarily?

Just a thought ...

I really with we had auto off AND auto on ... oh well.

This applies for internal lights as well. They turn off if you forget them. I do not think that the CL will be affected by any lights left on as far as running out of battery power because of that. It turns lights off.

There is another cool feature somewhat similar:

You are walking towards the car and press the unlock button on your remote. The car unlocks. While walking towards the car, a friend calls you or something distracts your attention and you never actually open the door and get in the car BUT you forget to RELOCK the car. 30 seconds or so later, the car will lock itself if the door is not opened. Cool safety feature ah?

Someone else mentioned this a while back and I almost forgot about it...

After you turn off your car and take the key out of the ignition (but before opening any doors), you can still roll the windows up or down and open or close the sunroof.

Am I the only one that didn't know about this feature until recently?

whats weird today was when I was in the South Coast plaza parking lot, I saw a CLK with its lights on for almost 45 minutes (no one inside)...there's gota be something fudged up with the wiring
cuz Mercedes is *known* to have their lights turn off after 10-15 secs.

In fact, our headlight-off feature originated from COPYing Mercedes...

funny.

the lighting feature can be integrated with the viper alarm. be sure to have a reputable person to do the install who knows what they are doing. mine is installed so that when i use my autostart, my headlights turn on and off twice then remain on.

Thanks man, thats what I wanted to know. Not going for full alarm, just remote start. So I am hoping if it will work with your alarm, it will work for remote start.

Now how to make the remote start work with the stock remote
