So is the driver's seat tensioner an issue here? Mine isn't returning either.

damn, i wish my requests were honored. I alsways get " problem could not be duplicated" or " noise is caused by altered suspension". By the time I get my car back, i'm like fuck it, lemme just get out of here.

Do I just tell them that I think the regulator needs to be replaced?

you shouldn't have to tell them anything. all they should do is listen to it and replace the regulator - that is if your serviceing dealership has half a clue. took mine in for the 22.5 service, told the advisor that the window was making this scratching noise, he listened to it and replaced the regulator. no questions asked. if there is a problem, ask to speak to the service manager and then ask him why his advisors don't know enough about the car to recognize a problem when they see (or in this case hear it) and respond accordingly.

Well the ultimate decision as to what they replace lies with them as does the responsibilty for making sure that the repair they effect is the correct one .SO hopefully they will do the right thing.

I am a veteran with this regulator business, had 3 of them replaced. One on passenger and two on driver. And let me tell you, I was there total of 6-7 times... they would always lubricate it, which would solve a problem for like 5 days.... depends on your dealer, to some of them you need to tell them what to replace or point them into the right direction.

guess I've just been lucky where I go ... these are the same guys that replaced water pump and timing belt when all I was eligible for was the auto tensioner update (based on vin) ... also got the 'official' notification from Acura this past week and their recall was solely for the auto tensioner. no complaints here!
