Last and final thread about 15k service stuff

Okay, guys I have picked up bits of information from all of your replies. I am choosing not to get the 15k service. I will be getting my tires rotated at costco for free, and an oil change from acura. Since my transmission color looks beige on an 03, i will also request them to verify the tranny color is incorrect, and to flush the transmission fluid for free, even though my car did not qualify for the 7k/100,000 transmission warranty. Lastly and most important, I will be checking all fluid levels, etc...but is there anyway I can inspect exhaust/suspension/driveshaft/brakes.... by myself with no lifts or anything. I hope the bastards dont blame the tranny fluid problem on my intake. If they refuse to flush the transmission oil for free, considering its already discolored at 13k, what should I do about it. Being 17 and not looking really old or anything, the service guys are nice, but dont give me much respect. Thanks guys

Man!! Don't ever get a Harley...

1K, 2.5K, 5K, 10K service.

My 2.5K service cost the same as my 30K service on the CL-S $330....

Sucks! I know.

Why don't you just get the service done? What's the dig deal?

You know what's going to happen if something breaks down the road & they decide to blame you for not having the service done...it's not like Acura is above blaming the consumer...just look at some of the tranny/rotor posts.

Save yourself the headache down the road & have them do the service.

THERE IS NOTHING IN A 15K MILE SERVICE YOU CAN"T DO YOURSELF! What is is it really? An oil change, & tire rotation. & they "inspect" stuff. Dealer services are a big waste of money, untill your over 50K miles. Even then a good shop can do it for alot less then any dealer.

On inspecting...
There's not much to it, just use your head, Look for bent stuff, strange noises, tire wear, brake wear can be checked by taking a wheel off & looking through the caliper at the brake pad, buy some grease & lube the door hinges, & maybe a few other small things. Look at the fluids levels(easy) Also a good oil change place with a full service oil change is suppost to do all that anyway. That might be another place to go.

I have my 15K service scheduled at PAA in two weeks.

In addition to the scheduled services I’m also gonna have them service my Comptech suspension which has recently developed squeaks.
And repair and/or replace my warped rotors.
And take care of that 2003 recall issue on the timing belt.

All for a fair price if I say so myself. And a free loaner car.
E-Mail or call them to talk about it.
I’m not sure if they want prices posted here.

My point is, the way they handle the cars defects...if a defect were to arise.

The first thing they'd say would be "we coulda caught that if you brought it in for the service,,,now it'll cost ya!" The way Acura handles their warranty problems is enough reason for me to get it done. Now, if they were cool about fixin the car when it broke, I'd say save the money-do it yourself.

Plus, if the kid were a mechanic or knew one, I'd say skip it...but it appears he knows very little about these vehicles...so he's taking a risk,,,IMHO.
