It may be a bit different on your ride. You have most every performance mod, so now you have to branch into the body mods.

Personally, I think on a typical CL, it will look lame. On something that has a ton of body mods, it will look better.

Because he took peices of kits made for other cars and had them custom fit to his car. It takes a lot of work to get them to look like that and a lot of $$$$.

She, what does getting in and out in a garage have anyting to do with it? It's not like they stand 8'-10' tall and would hit the ceiling. I'f my buddies Toyota pick-up with nearly a foot of lift and sitting on 37" tires fits thru the garage door (which it does - by inches), a CL with Lambo doors can surely open up in there.
My point was that you can buy these cars now for $13,000. Maybe they were a $30,000 car when they were new, but not now. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE my car. But why spend that kind of money on DOORS for a car that has a value depreciating faster than the speed of sound??

As for the garage doors, maybe it just LOOKS tall to me??

I just know I'd feel pretty lame propping up my lambo doors on my CL pulling up next to an actual Lambo.
Bingo.

Lambo doors don't belong on this car.

If I bought an old, mid-80's Toyota Corrolla for $1,500 and wanted to modify it by stuffing in a Supra motor, would you say the same thing?

You're actually missing the point here...

Q: Why do people mod the living daylights out of cheap Honda Civics or any car for that matter?

A: Because modifying cars has nothing to do with the value or make/model of the car. They are to make the car different than everyone else's and to satisfy a personal want or need.

Everyone knows that modifying a car generally does not increase it's value. Lambo doors certainly would not. Mods are stricktly for personal pleasure based on one's preference. Whether or not the mods are simply cosmetic or fully funtional performance mods, it doesn't matter. It has nothing to do with the value of the vehicle.

I just recently purchased my Jeep approx. 6mos ago and currently I've got less than $1,000 in mods or add-ons. The Jeep is only worth about $9k +/-. By the time I'm done with it (if ever), I'll have anywhere from $3k - $6k into it. I don't care. My point of modifying it is simply personal for peformance utility, and yes... looks, nothing more. Project XJ will be a money pit for sure. More so than the CL ever was or would be. I'm certain of it. If I ever bought another CL, I'd do the same thing all over again.

Also, see Steath CL...

The "point" is that putting Lambo doors on a CL is a matter of opinion...and my opinion is "NO." I wasn't referring to mods increasing or decreasing the value of a car. I was referring to the fact that CL's (regardless of mods) are decreasing in value pretty fast. If I had that kind of money, I'd spend it on a nicer car...not on making an older car harder to sell. I just don't see the point of spending money on something that (in MY opinion) looks ridiculous.

While I respect the opinion you hold and are most certainly entitled too, you are still basing a modification solely on the value of a 2nd Gen CL.

Worrying about the resale value of a car is a waste of time. A car is one the the worst investments you will ever make as they go down in value immediately from the day it's built. Even worse after it's been titled and registerd and so on. However, most of us NEED one. Those of us that are into cars and modifications alike tend to see past this and we don't care. We enjoy it regardless.

And yes, putting Lambo doors on a daily driven CL IMHO is silly and I wouldn't do it. Show car? Different story. However if the OP likes it, thats all that matters.

If you think Lambo doors are rediculous on a CL, you should have seen the freakin' bumbble bee that was posted awhile back. Man did that guy ever get flamed outta here!

I think I might've been misunderstood on this one. I wasn't basing my opinion ONLY on the value of the car...that's just something I felt like commenting on. Regardless of that point, I simply don't like the look of the Lambo doors on a CL. In fact if a guy tried to pick me up in ANY non-showcar with Lambo doors that wasn't an actual Lambo...I'd probably roll my eyes and walk (or run) the other way. It just looks tacky to me.

^ i agree with LH. It's been a while since I've seen a car come onto this boards with something to talk about. Our forum is starting to sound like a broken record everytime i look at the new topics being created.

everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and along with some members' i don't think it'll look nice. i think lambo doors are played out, u get in and u get out. period.

but it doesn't really matter what our opinions are because it only matters what your opinion is, if you like it go for it.
