Please Contact Navteq!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Last night my friend fainted in my car and I had to get her to the hospital. Anyway, i selected the nearest hospital from the navi list choices. Anway, when i reached the destination, there was no hospital, just forest. I had to resort to calling one of my best friend and have him give me directions to a hospital near by from where I was. I reached the hospital and when I got there, I was very muych relived to hear that she was going to be okay. But a shocker i got was that if i brought her 5 minuted later, she would have died in my TL on the way there. I urge you to call Navteq for the sake of you kids, you husband, your wife, your friends, anyone that you love or care about because one day, you might have to rely on the nav to get you to the hospital and behold, it may not be there.

For those who are asking why didn't you call 911, I did, and what they said was that first, they didn't have as accurate location on me after i gave them an intersection, the location of a few shops next to me and the phone number of one of the shops. As well, they said that it would take atleast 10 minutes to get there. My friend was unconsious at this point and barely breathing. That is when i called my friend, and drove almost 95MPH in local residence where the limit was 25.

Also I was in the rental 2006 tl that i have that had a 3.60 Navi disk, which by apline, is the latest. So Please contact them so we can have more of an effect on them.

For those wondering about my friend, she is okay now resting at home. She was discharged at 3 AM today from florida hospital near Ustis.

I know going 95 in a 25 was dangerous, but she had a heart attack for cirying out loud. Just please send them a message to halp save a life one day.

I hope she is ok and all is going well.

But the best course of action that you could have done was give her a tylenol and call the ambulance. The EMT could have been working on her and safely transported her to the hospital.

Also, someone doesn't have a heart attack and get discharged a couple hours later. They keep them for tests.

This story makes no sense.....

Also, it is not about the CL so I see this getting shut down soon.....

she was in there for quite a while. she did have a heart attack, but she did get get her heart back up naturally without the difibulator. Her doctor said it was a mini-heart attack. She probably had one because she was stressed over her sister, she has celiacs disease and a few other health problems. SHe was also hyped up because of a basketball game that we attended. ANd it does relate to the CL. THe CL nav system is provided by NAVTEQ and propably a discrepancy in data like this could cause a loss of life.

I thought our navi systems were from Pioneer. Whenver I ordered my DVD and had questions, I was referred to Pioneer techs....

pioneer makes the drive, but navteq makes the maps for pioneer, apline and all the other companies.

Good to hear things worked out. As others have said, I know you were freaking out a bit but you should have called 911 instead. The nav systems make no guarantee on the information provided nor should they be used as a life saving device. Navteq and the companies they get their data from literally drive the entire country and map the data. Although they may make and effort to correct the issue if you call, they aren't going to update the entire country. And there are lots of people that are using older versions of the nav system.

I agree...it's not Navteq or Alpine's fault. As scary as the situation was, navigation is supposed to be used as a novelty....not to be relied on in an emergency. Your best bet would be to always be familiar with the area you're in, and call 911. They can do location traces on 911 calls from a cell phone...

Oh...and I wouldn't have given her a tylenol like pits200 recommended. Since you didn't know what had happened to her at that point, it's best to leave it to the EMTs. For all you knew, she could have been passed out from a tylenol overdose!
