Knowing what you now know, did you buy the right car?

There are a lot of complainers/winers who have recently voiced their opinions. This is fine. Bitch all you want it's a relatively free country.

However, given your experience with the car, if you were to go back in time would you still have bought the CLS?

My answer is a yes. Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for.

Hell yeah!

I don't regret nothing. If my $hit breaks....ACURA WILL FIX IT! When the warranty goes then I will trade up for the M3.

If I could go back in time, i would get the left over 2001 CLS w/ navi that they offered for $27k, find a CLP owner and trade him my seats, gauges and shift knob. Then I would have a perfect car, 260hp with no holes in seats, no white gauges and no shift knob with the plastic on top.

Acura

I would buy a CL-S all over again. Yes, there have been minor problems, but as a wise man once said-"perfection exists only in the dictionary." I've got buddies that have had twice the number of problems with their BMW's.

It seems a lot of folks have had problems with certain dealerships. Continental Acura in Lisle has been great and I did'nt even buy the car there! I think for the money, Acura is a great value.

If the TL-S was out back then, I would have gotten that... I lie 4drs, but I still don't regret the CL-S at all.

I have no regrets whatsoever.
Every time I get into my CL-S I feel lucky, and that's how it should be.

There may be cars coming out now that I wish I could get (read 350Z), but at the time and for the money the CL-S was the dream car.

I still would have purchased this car because there is nothing out there that I liked in this price range that I could depend on.

I like that car but I really wanted a 4 door TL-S at the time but they werent out yet and got this car instead. I love my car and clean the hell out of it. But nowadays, there are much better cars coming out on the road. Im thinkin of trading my CL for the new Z.

No. The economy in my field sucks right now, thus I'd get something cheaper if I were to buy again right now. Something used. But, since I have it now, it's nice to have the equity.

If the economy were great, like when I bought my car, then I would say Yes, absolutely I'd buy it again. If you asked me that hypothetical question next year, I'd say no - I'm getting the 350Z Turbo.

I've had no problems with the car. I might have gotten it with NAVI if I could go back 2 years.

Even though I don't have a CL-S I voted anyway. I love my car and I would do it all over again if I had to, now. Does that mean that in 5 years my next car will be an Acura...probably not, but for now I'm good!!

No regrets, i love my car. Whan i was car shopping, originally was looking for a used v6 accord coupe. I wanted to find 1 for around 15k. There were a few but.... Then i went to the honda dealership and drove some new coupes. I think my 90 accord ex was faster, to top it off the one i wanted was 28k+!!!!! Then i saw a used cl-s at a dealership and fell in love, i didn't think i could afford it though. The next day the planets aligned and i found an nearly identical cl-s for sale on line. The only difference was this one had less miles, headers, exhaust, springs etc. and it was $2000 less. Anyway, i don't believe i could have done any better for $25,500. I smile in my sleep.

I also hate the holes in the seats. I may not buy a CL-S just because of that. Why do you hate them?

I would not have bought my ZX2.

I should have bought a Honda.

I love the car, and it's been 95% of perfect so far, but I'm upside-down like a mofo in the bitch because I have 94k miles on a '98.

I owe $7k and it's worth $4k.

*cries*

If I was at break-even I'd have an order in on a Z right now =(

Well, I know the holes are suppose to make the car more sporty. But to me, it makes it look, less luxuary. Hairs and stuff might get caught in them. The car itself looks perfectly clean and smooth, i would hate to have holes in the seats to mess up that smoothness. Same goes for the shift knob, the CLPs are nice leather wrapped while the CLS has the holes in them and the plastic type S logo on top, It just doesnt feel smooth and luxury. IMO. The white gauges also make it look like a cheaper car IMO, especially when my car is black, everything is black except those 3 big white circles. And the black wood, i mean i understand its all fake, but i would rather have fake wood in wood color then have fake wood that doesnt even show up unless u look straight at it.

I love the holes actually. They're not necessarily pretty, but I did buy the Type S, which is the sportier model, which has white gauges and "holes" in the front seats to make it more sporty then the base model. If I didn't want that, I would have gotten the regular TL, but I wanted the Sport. In addition, my CL had leather, and sometimes I would sweat in the summer, however with the "holes" in the seat, my ass is nice and cool, regardless of the temp... so all in all, I like them. Better air flow = cooler ass = happier me. And personally, I like the way it looks. Puts the "S" for sport in my otherwise luxury car.....

The TLS doesnt have as many holes like the CLS seats... there are no holes at the end of the seat cushion for the TLS...

I'd say people who don't like the perforated leather and white guages are in the minority. To not get an S for this reason seems f'n nutty to me but um to each his own.

haha trust me, the decision wasnt easy. BUt at the end, it came down to, have a 1/2 sec faster car, or have a car that I like the interior more. Besides, that 1/2 a sec isnt that important to me. Some simple mods can give me that 1/2 a sec back without having to deal with the things i dont like in the interior of the S. But thats just my opinion.

perforated leather rocks!

I lovvvve the perforated leather and the white gauges...i have gotten nothing but compliments on the gauges......You will probably get some worms in the seats but the dealer(at least mine) will replace the seat cover anytime...some people have them(the worms) some dont...I dont know...the CL-S is everything I wanted...Sport Luxury Coupe with plenty of toys...plus my buddy has a TL and his seats are not as comfy as mine...no hip bolsters like the CL-S. I would but this car again in a heartbeat...I love it!

the worms only happen to me when you vaccum the seats.... So now i just wipe the seats instead of vaccuming them and they are fine.

agreed...altho if i could get a 4 year old NSX in the 30's since the next G NSX will b priced similarly, i might just sell my current baby for the new baby since the new design NSX doesn't really float my boat either and 290HP + any mods is more than enough for me

hehe i know, this guy i work with has an S. It is faster and have less body roll. But not enough to overcome the things idont like about the interior of S. Now if it had 300+hp, then i think i can manage to deal with the interior. hehe

This is funny. Eleven people have voted "NO" so far and I've yet to find any real complaints in this thread. It may be that they don't want to upset the balance, or be included with the "complainer/whiners" as Mike has so eloquently labled us. Well I say "fuck that".

You couldn't pay me to buy this car again. This has been the single most miserable ownership experience I've ever had, and I've never even complained about something as asinine as fucking hairs in the seats! 95 days. 95 days and this motherfucker goes back to the dealer. This is one instance where leasing was truly a WIN/WIN situation.

The rest of you "NOs" better speak up.

Absolutely love my CL-S! Thumbs up on perforated seats as I think it looks better. Thumbs up on white gages, cool as its getting dark with lights on how they turn misty gray! My main nitpicks is thin paint though it looks ok and how Acura is handling the tranny problem. Do you think people would pay BMW price if they were having tranny problems. BMW's have electrical and some cooling problems otherwise drivetrains are great. Personally, I like how CL-S looks compared to BMW, and the new Z which has a nasty looking dash to me but with good price and Turbo could sway me quickly!

If "complainer/whiner" offends you, then let's reclassify as a dissatisfied customer.

I guess I am trying to separate the truely unhappy with the whiners.

I like my CL-S even though I've had my fair share of issues (namely the replacement of my tranny at 14,000 miles). Still, since everything has been fixed with no additional money coming out of my pocket, I am happy with my purchase. I am just worried that I have become spoiled and will be forced to pay an arm and a leg for my next car to even come close to matching all the gadgets I have grown to depend on.

Thank you, Mike, for I am truly an unhappy customer.

Unhappy with the car? Yes. Unhappy with ACURA? Yes. Unhappy with my dealership, David McDavid Acura in Plano, TX? NO! I've been very satisfied with my dealership experience and would highly recommend that anyone in the Plano, Addison, Richardson, Frisco area give their business to DMD simply because of the service department.

Even with my burnt tranny and rattles, I'd still buy it again. There wasn't anything better in the price range I was looking at the time.

Of course, if you took out the "go back in time" part. I would change my mind. But, such as life.

I love the car, just im not sure about the tranny ;-)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As long as the people who are defined as "whiners" aren't the people who have drivetrain problems... THOSE ARE MAJOR ISSUES! and they should bitch!

this car will be my last honda product ever. by biggest dislike is the weird ass suspension setup. soft at high speeds, hard at low speeds? gauges that go away when u have ur hands on the wheel. stupid tranny that can't trust you to control 1st gear, yet magically jumps down to it if you stomp it by mistake.. handling that gets softer and softer as the car ages transforming the car from a cl-s to an accord.. seat belts that dont go back on there own (on a 30k car?? wtf?). wheels just waiting to scratch themselves.. and the all famous time-bomb of a transmission..

next car is gonna be a lancer evo.. i would have gotten the wrx if it was out at the time.. but the evo's gonna be much better..
