killed by a vette

I was on 295N in NJ just around the weigh station where all our state troopers sit. I saw a green Vette (98-02 non Z06) coming up on my left, so I dropped to 4th (6m) and passed the car in front of me. As I pulled back to the right the vette got in front of me and must have felt the need to go fast. At this point we are cruising around 85mph and I noticed he kept getting faster up to 95mph. We then continued to gain speed going through the end of 4th, 120mph, keeping within 3 car lengths of the Vette. When I went from 4th to 5th he got another 4-5 car lengths on me. Somewhere in the time in 5th his coat flies out of his car and lands behind him. Shortly there after I run over the coat and the old guy (grey haired and probably 50) slows down to turn around to get the coat. I was at least 100yrds behind the car, probably more when we quit. I only hit 140mph (224km/h) with the stock CL-S.

I think the ticket in NJ would have put me in prison and when I could get insurance again it would have been about 10k a year, since it is over half of that now.

I had a yellow Z06 play with me at a light a few weeks ago. We were side by side. I gun it at the light, I wasn't tring to race, just in a hurry, he just starts out slow. Then catches up real quick. He lets me hang with him to about 60, then he downshifted, smoked his tires & peeled off. I had a nice smoke cloud in front of me. I laughed.

I knew I would lose, but it sure was some fun. And the police, I happen to have a friend who likes to date state troopers, so I am sure I could have just called her, she would have showed up. She told me an officer let someone go doing over 120mph when he was on the way to see her. Just as long as her husband isn't home.

Not to generalize, but I've noticed alot of INSANE CLS drvers on the road lately here in the great state of New Jersey. For example, today I had some guy in a black CLS riding about 2 inches off my bumper and then pass me on the shoulder. This is one of about 4-5 CL encounters I've had in the past 3 weeks. What gives???

Edit- I am by no means implying in any way that Mustang drivers are almighty and don't do the same thing that I am complaining about CLS drivers doing. I've just noticed more CL Type S's on the road lately and most of them are driven by guys who seem to think they are evil knevil-sp?

Anothercls: Doesn't sound like a race even if you were to try. Keeping up and showing that you can "do it" is sometimes as important.

97Snake...some CL drivers feel that they have something to prove. I have found myself following other cars that zoom by me even if I don't "start it". Personally, I am just looking for another joker to play with, only asking for a thumbs up at the end of it whether I am faster or slower. I haven't let it get to be that I would hit the breakdown lane. It should be an instant loss if you have to resort to that. I drive into Boston every day and there are always idiots doing dumb sh!t. My roommate in College had a 97LX Mustang very modded and hit the break-down lane a few times when I was in the car...it was silly IMO since his car was so crazy fast....13s in the 1/4 mile so why risk it?

Playing is fine- after all, the people who buy the faster cars are paying the extra money for a reason. It just people who drive around like they are in the final lap of a NASCAR race who annoy me.
Most likely I'm noticeing more crazy CLS drivers because I am more aware of the car. I like the CLS and I tend to watch them when I see them on the road. Especially the new blue ones-

P.S. - I'm not ripping on what anothercls did. I didn't see anything about him whipping in and out of lanes or cuting people off, ect.

Fortunately I never cut in and out of lanes, had there been heavier traffic it would have never happened. I once played with another car and when I saw a motorcycle in front of me. I slowed down about 200yrds behind the cycle and the other guy got in front of me and nearly hit the guy on the bike.

I once saw an BMW on RT. 1 in North Jersey going in and out of traffic like crazy and even using the shoulder. I thought he was going to kill someone. Maybe he was on a test drive from Princeton BMW or something...

And the tops were off because it was a few months ago when it happened, I didn't register till recently to tell the story.
