Kill Story - CL-S vs "Accord-R"
This one is nothing to be proud of...
An acuaintance of mine has a BONE-STOCK '99 Honda Accord(I4, not even a V6 mind you). The only "mods" he has done are red H symbols, and a Accord Type-R badge(that's about...what, 100 HP right there?). For some reason, he has the nerve to pull next to me to race. He gives me "the look" and starts inching forward. I shake my head in disgust, but decide to give this guy an ass whoopin'. Idiot me forgets to turn of VSA, but then again I was going to ease into the acceleration, then pound on the accelerator. But I guess I goofed up somewhere, and I mashed it from 0 MPH. Oh man. I hear a squealing and I think "DAMNIT, VSA!!!!". For about 2 or 3 seconds I'm sitting there squealing while the Type-R "takes off". Finally I get out of the wheel spin and WHOOOOSH I fly by him! And that's even after a 3 second headstart by him. lol, serves the damn "Type-R" right.
But DAMN! I really felt like I was flying after the wheel spin...did the wheel-spin cause my 0-60 time to be any faster or anything?

You really do need to know how to launch this car, otherwise you spend your time burning up your tires. It helped alot when I got my springs, don't ask me why but the tires squeal less now.

Tighter springs will mean less squat under hard acceleration and less dive under hard braking. With less squat when you're gunning it there will be less weight transfer off the front wheels, thus they will retain more grip.
It depends on a car's powerband and torque converter as to how much wheelspin is good wheelspin.
No wheelspin isn't necessarily ideal. Its good because it almost immediately puts the engine in the agressive cam range, Vtec. As you know, down by the 3000 rpm's the car is kind of a dog.
Wouldn't it be nice to spin the tires up to vtec engagement at whatever 4500 or so, then have them immediately hook up?

so is the general concensus that those of us wit da 'bone stock' setup need to shut down the VSA for a launch?? i haven't tried this yet reel hard-i can just hear my tires skreechin! i have jumped on it with the VSA engaged and got the 'stuttered' start-doesn't seem to happen every time tho...

w/ VSA off i my wheels spin almost all through 1st gear. also when launching your car try holdin the brake down and reving the car up to about 2500. then launch it it'll make a huge differance. that'z wat i did.
