Just sold my '01 CLS and got.....
A '03 laser red G35c 6speed with black interior, premium package, 18" rims, brembo brakes, & aero! They gave me $15,000 for my '01 with navi, 80,000 miles, and on tranny #2. I'll take some pics later today.

i dont know how anyone could find the CL-S more powerful, fun to drive or nearly as head turning and eye-catching as either the G35 or the 350Z.
its no wonder everyone is migrating.
if i had the money, id be rolling a G35 right now, for sure
i was going to trade in my CL-S regardless, but due to practical reasons and purposes, i went with the truck. had i had the opportunity, a G35 would be in my garage for sure. bottom line, its a superior car. some may question the interior styling, but no one can deny its a superior car.

I have an idea...since this is like chinese water torture for those happy with and keeping their CL's. Let's have a 'sellouts' forum where ex cl owners can discuss their new rides without annoying the CL diehards.

contradict much?
for me, (someone who has to do quite a bit of winter driving in the mountains), would the G35 or Z still be the superior car? how about more practical? is less interior room superior and more practical? is a manual transmission superior and more practical for city dwellers like myself?
for the amount of $$ i have in my cl-s, along with the performance and aesthetics it has, fuck anything else.
i've plowed 8" of snow w/ this bitch, will a Z be able to do that?

I'll be posting pics probably tomorrow. I can't believe the amount of stares I get from people. Just yesterday, pulling through the drive thru of Wendy's, the cashier starts saying what a nice car it is and goes on and on about how she loves the lines of the car. I'm thinking to myself, please give me my change so I could head back to work!
The car handles way better than my CLS (granted nothing springs and sways can't take care of). Not much body roll when taking turns. This is my first rear wheel drive car so I'm getting used to the handling characteristics from this type of platform. The suspension is much stiffer than my CLS (feel most imperfections on the road), however it's a good compromise at least for me.
I like the interior of the G35, but it still reminds me of a Nissan. The CLS is much nicer on this front and on trunk space. The manual is not as nice as Honda's (had a '98 Prelude Type SH) in regards to smoothness. The G35's is a little notchy, but the throws are short. The clutch is a little stiff, but as time goes on I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I'm not really an audiophile, but to me the CLS's stero sounded much better than the G35's system (I have the upgraded 225 watt unit).
That's it for now. I will say that I love the CLS, but after 3 years of ownership I was ready for a change and didn't want to go into a 6spd CLS. I think this is a natural progression for most people to make. Just my opinion.

Who cares about the "level" of your car?
I've been an M3 owner (more than once) and I wouldn't think twice about buyer another car at a "lower level".
If you can only move "up", then what do you get after the M3? A Porsche? Then what? Ferrari? What next? A Lambo?
See the point? In 10 or 15 years, you'll need to be driving a $300,000 car.
Why should anyone be upset if another is selling his CL. I love mine. The longer I own it the more convinced I chose the best car for me... I really don't care if I become the only CL owner on earth. Nor should you.
I'm right there with ya.... I pick up my 03 Laser Red G35 6MT tomorrow night from Ramsey Infiniti. Mine is red with Willow interior, aero package, premium package etc.
On another note. I have nothing bad to say about my CL-S. It's been a great 3 years. Mine doesn't go back until the end of July so I'll have both to drive. But.......the CL gets bumped outa the garage

Thanks everyone. This thread wasn't meant to bash up on the CL at all. Just figured everyone on this board is a car enthusiast. I know I'm for one...hell I was #2 on the list for a Subaru STI and placed a deposit in early January waiting for the car.
The CL is definately a great car. People in my office tell me the G35 doesn't have as many options my CLS had and that was almost a three year old car (bought it Aug '00).
Trust me it was very hard to trade her in, but with 20,000 miles left on the tranny warranty and having gone through it once before I wasn't comfortable. If there weren't any tranny issues my CLS would still be with me even though I prefer stick. I had the intent when I bought this car that it would be with me till the wheels fall off. Even with the brake problems I had and the sunroof noise I still loved my CLS, but when a part (ie tranny) costs ($4k) almost 1/3 of what the car is worth (at least in my case) it's time to move on.
I plan to stay on this board because for the most part people in here are just pretty cool and mature. When I had a deposit down for the STI, I was over on the Subaru boards for a little bit and I could tell the maturity level was WAY lower.
As far as the comparo between the G35 and CLS go, the one thing that sticks in my mind is how firm the ride is in the G35 when compared to my stock CLS. If I had to make a 12 hour road trip and had to choose between these two stock cars it would be the CLS hands down. If I lived in a place where the roads were curvy I would take the G35. If practicality was the name of the game, the CLS would win (ie larger trunk, cheaper consumables like tires, brake pads, etc). I guess what I'm trying to express is the G35 just feels "sportier" than the CLS. I like the seats in the G35...reminds me of the feel of the recaros in the Evo. The seats in my CLS were fine too, but they didn't fit me as well when I did some "spirited" driving. I like the intuitive ergonomics in the CLS more so than the G35. I mean a radio volume dial should be a knob on the left side of the radio. The AC doesn't feel as cold as my CLS, but it's adequate. I wish the power seats in the G35 were as fast as my CLS when you recline them. I can't believe I don't have memory seats like I did in the CL. Miss the rear tilt mirror on the passenger side when going into reverse. Those are some of the things I miss.
But the handling aspects of the G35 along with how sexy it looks, the brembos, 18"wheel/tire package, and 6 spd more than make up for the inadequacies. To me, it's a more "fun" car to drive than the CLS and as you can see (80,000 miles on my CLS) I drive alot.
Again, I'm not "dissin" the CLS, I'm just sharing my observations about the two cars.
