Just replaced front rotors/pads... PISSED

I just recently traded in my 6MT for this auto and it needed brakes REALLY bad, the peddle was pulsating very violently at highway speeds so I bought 2 front rotors and some oem style ceramic pads.. nonetheless. IT STILL VIBRATES! im wondering wtf the problem is. The whole front end vibrates along with the brake peddle. Any thoughts? please post as im very worried and would love to remedy this problem asap regardless of the cost.

Have you bedded in your pads to the rotor?

Stoptech has an excellent white paper on the topic of warping. Many times the feeling of a warped rotor is really an uneven distribution of pad material on the surface of the rotor.

This is a long article but well worth reading:

When you pulled off your old pads, were any of them worn more than the others? Also, did you bleed the system? I will bleed the system anytime I push in a piston. Pushing in the piston kicks up crud that accumulates in the caliper cylinder so bleeding cleans some of that out.

I had the brake job done at my work (wheel works) because labor was only 25 bucks, I checked out the pads/rotors and the pads didn't have any variation in thickness... and I don't think the system was bled, regardless if it was bled or not. This vibration/pulsation is identical from when the old pads/rotors we're still on the car. Im thinking its the calipers sticking or something else....

I would think its the rears because your pedal also vibrates. From what I know if its just the front brakes then the steering wheel vibrates once the pedal also vibrates both front and rear are warped. Also I did my brakes yesterday and I didnt bleed the system. Its doing ok so far. Nothing like seeing some new rotors.

typeS6S How did you get your shifter so short, did you cut it? If so how did you do it cut and weld or cut and rethread?

I know it's a long shot, but sometimes it's because the lug nut weren't torqued down evenly or properly. Give that a try.

Also, like someone else mentioned, it could be the rear brakes. Kind of sounds like a warped rotors.

First let me say... I would have drove to CAli if you wanted and automatic...

Anyways, not being as far fetched as it may sound, have your tires balanced at your work!
I had a problem with a defective tire that would cause vibration right after I bought it.
You may have a warped rim some how, since you say it was like this when you bought it.

Could it be possible that the ABS is causing the pulsations and since it is engaging when it's not supposed to be, causing the pulsing of the pedal? Just a thought...

I had my for trade ad posted for almost 2 monthes. But anyways the tires/rims are directly off my 6MT (we swapped since he wanted to keep his 18s) and no the ABS is not engaging when its not supposed too. I actually did some more test driving and it looks like the rear rotors are warped aswell since most of the vibration is comming from the rear... it was much worse before I changed out the front rotors so im prob just going to replace the rear and go from there.

Shit Gary, sorry to hear about your bad luck again. Who'd you end up trading with? Was it an Azine member?

I'll make sure to pull your Auto Trader ad...
