Just installed Thermoblock kit

Hey guys,
just wanted to give you all a heads up, for those of you who are considering doing this and have a "Comptech strut bar" you must remove it to install the kit! Also make sure that all the bolts and screws are threaded properly before install. One of mine was all screwed up and i had to re-thread it. Anyhow, its a wonderful prodduct and you can tell the difference it makes right away! Talk to you all later.

How long did it take you to install, and why in hell would a strut bar be in the way of taking the manifold and throttle body off?

Would you recommend this for a "rainy Saturday afternoon/wife and kid gone to a relatives house" job?

This statement is a little misleading. The minimal gains which may be had would only result after some heat soak has progressed. Imediate gains would not be realized as the manifold wouldn't be warmed yet.

I do wish someone had done independant testing as this is something which could easily be installed while strapped to the rollers.

This could be done in an hour with basic hand tools. Smaller hands of kids are welcome to recover that lost screw or nut.

This is a little off-topic but it would be totally cool for someone to design a ITB system for the CL's. It would give us massive hp gains...

You could but not really nessesary but it was soemthing I sketched up once. I suspect it would hurt the mid and low range power with some gains up top. But to really take advantage of the flow capability with ITB's you would need a new cam, rebuild the heads and run a stand alone DFI. All this would be used to get the engine to rev higher and make torque longer using the flow capability of ITBs.

Individual Throttle Bodies, one per cylinder. It has greater flow potential.

Yup, the e46 M3's have em from the factory as well as the new M5's and the old E30 M3's.

Just installed mine this weekend, took about 90 minutes.
One of the greatest little tools I bought before installing this was a magnetic nut grabber thingy from Sears

its cool, but just stuck on getting the TB away from where it connects to the top half of the engine. Any tips? i have removed 2 screws and 2 nuts but it seems that the TB is welded on to the block or a very tigit fit. Any hints?

It will come off, it just requires a lot of elbow grease. Just wiggle it back and forth and it will eventually "pop" off. The thing is that the existing gasket is like glue between the IM and TB.
