Just installed the PIAA 19224s.

They definitely look different then the Polarg M6 bulbs. There are not as bright, and have a different blue tint to them. Im going to keep them on a bit, and see how they look from far away. I'll have an update for you guys later on tonight. There are a smaller bulb then the Sylvanias, and the M6s. At this point I'm preferring the Sylvania bulbs over both.

when i did a side-by-side with Chod's M6's, they really didn't look all that different...i'd say marginal, but that's just me

Just saw them from far away. They do look different. My opinion of course. They look good. I'll keep them on.

Agreed...on the bulbs looking good..

I agree that the PIAA's look better than the Polarg's, i'll have to disagree about the part about them being smaller. The bulbs might marginally be a bit smaller, but still don't fit through that stock fog lamp bulb hole as loosely as I would like (Those suckers still rub the hole when putting them in, requiring you to do a little twisting action to get them to fit in).

I personally think the material that the bulb is made out of is going to be better than the Polarg's (hopefully), so hopefully the plastic lens around the bulb won't expand as it did with the Polarg (I can live with the coating of the bulb coming off as someone had posted before).

I haven't tried the Sylvania's so I can't quote on them, but out of the Polarg and PIAA, I would have to say that the PIAA is a better bulb (look and quality wise).

The ones you saw in the pics were the 7watt bulb, not the 18w. These definitely give light in the bottom. Ill post some pics tonight.

Yes heres the pic I took, left is sis's PIAA 5W and right is M6.
Just wondering, why did you guys change to PIAA 18W? They will still have the same chance in burning the housing but they are not as bright as the M6. So why not just stay with M6 or get the 5W piaa

i respectfully disagree...when Chod and i did our side-by-side between the 19224's and M6's, the brightness when u step back was almost indistinguishable...there is a little color variance when u're up close and looking at the ground just below the car when light from the lamp first hits the ground...of course, this is assuming both the M6's and 19224's have the coating on the bulbs...if u strip the coatings off, u might find it even more difficult to detect differences since both bulbs are 18w with a stripped clear bulb housing.

Yes I had to break the bulbs to get them out, because they were deformed. I broke the glass while having the bulb in the hold. The bigger pieces fell out. I shaked the housing until all the little pieces came out. Whatever you do, do not wet the housing.

what happens if u wet the housing? it fogs up?....also, did u touch the 19224's w/ur hands? i heard that we're not supposed to do that cuz of our greasy fingers....also, was ur housing burnt from the m6's?

If you wet the housing, the little pieces of glass will stick to the housing, and it will be very hard to remove them. I wore gloves when i put on the piaa 19224s. The M6 bulbs did not melt my housing.

my bulbs have been installed since May of '01...they are not deformed, however they are a bitch to get out b/c of all the heat buildup expanding their size a bit.

whether or not the 19224's are better is an opinionated answer...fact is they're both 18w, so we're not talkin one is superior to the other brightness-wise...they both produce a lot of heat since the road lamp housing was ORIGINALLY supposed to handle 5w, and yes, my housings are burnt, but not bad...there is a slight color variance if u compared the 2 side-by-side, but it's a little different...i always thought the 19224's were a little more green than blue, whereas i always thought the M6's were a little more purple than blue...again, this is what i observed...i happen to like the 19224's, but if there are bulbs out there/will b out there that give more blue white even closer to HID than the M6's/19224's are, i'd buy them.

hope this helps some!!
