JUST got back from the Drag strip!

First time I ever been to a drag strip! VERY fun. But my 1/4 mile time is SHYT... I must have a weak CL or something.. HEADERS next

15.39 was my best time 1/4 mile

on that run I had:

2.4682 60ft

6.7452 330ft

9.5092 ET@ 594ft

10.2090 1/8ET

64.31 1/8 mph

92.43 1/4 mph

Is that expected or low or what??

i didn't burn my tires nor break stand or anything like that. I got stock tires and aftermarket rims.

Would the rims make a diff???

I WANT 14s!!!! damnit.. looks like some headers will put me close.

oh yea and VSA was ON.... I'm a goof.... I forgot to take it off on my fastest run. I guess there rooms for a .2 or so on my end to improve, but still. Are these numbers off or what?

Cause unfortunately my car is running perfect so its either a weak cl. Or the numbers most mags post are bs

I got killed by an 3.5 altima then I turned VSA off and killed him . It slows you down like crazy. Also its faster if you go into trip tronic mode .07 sec or something every shift

Holy high 60ft times! If you can get down to 2.1-2.1 60ft times you'll have 14s no problem.

BTW, this belongs in the Racing section.

I went to the track today and my best time was also a 15.3.

BUT, I'm using some heavy 18's and all I have is a pulley. You should have been in the 14's, considering I ran the same as you and I'm stock + larger lesser performing wheels.

This is making less and less sense.

Here's my best run today.

R/t .126
60' 2.265
330 6.472
1/8 9.892 @ 72.35
1000 12.834
1/4 15.327 @ 91.21

Are you auto or stick? Your aftermarket wheels are def gonna make a diff. They are probably heavier than your stock wheels so there is more rotational mass. That will slow you down a lot. Stock wheels are about 23lbs each (someone back me up on this) and anything aftermarket is made for looks. The stocks are cast for easy and cheap reproduction.

If your running auto I would think that leaving it out of TT would help because the car is gonna shift it at higher rpm's anyways since you have it floored. I ran bone stock with only a CAI on stock wheels and tires with traction off and ran a 15.1 on my third try. No brake torquing or anything. Took the system out of the trunk and I was running on about a quarter tank of gas.

I doubt i'd run close to that now cause of my rims. Moved to 8.5 19", haha! My rims weigh almost 10lbs more a piece than the stock ones!

Auto's are going to run slow at the track if you are not experienced. My 1st times at the track were with my auto CLS fully modded & I couldn't break 15 for anything.

That said, VSA off for sure & air down your front tires. Your 60's are horrid. Get 2.1 60's & your in 14's easy. It's about traction with the CL. If you get some at the line you'll have a good time.

yea I was WONDERING about my 60 ft... the car just burns when u hit the gas so I gotta BABY IT EH??????

Should I get the engine dampener??? that'd help my launch!!!..

BTW I raced a grand prix 2002 supercharged and he only beat me by .1 and I was GAINING on him hard in 3rd..

If it was a 1/2 mile I'd of SPANKED HIM!!!!

These cars are GOOD top end compared to others i've seen.

Also raced a mustang on SLICKS and he only got my off the line!!

K so i'm looking for 60 ft times to improve? by .3 about correct and then say... new front tires, and engine dampener, then headers..

I wanna make this car 14.5 SO BAD... i just love that time for some reason. And in this car I'd be damn happy./

Thanks for the heads up on my time!... I thought a had a poo CL. I'm glad it was more ME than anything wwwwhhheewww

Um... That's not true... it depends on the manufacturer's aim with that particular wheel. Look at a the specs on a Enkei RPF-1. 14.6lbs at stock size.

stock rims have been thrown out.. they were bent.

It's OK i like my rims enough to sacrafice a point or two.... or three. on my 1/4 mile.

I intend on getting more mods and practice and then hitting the track early next year.

I would go agin this year but I got no more $ for mods at this point.

I already got TUNS of shit for my car this year. plus a new tranny. when I got the car it was stock 5 months ago.

ac turns off at wot.

ur 60ft is horrible, how much air in ur front tires? i lower mine down to 26-28psi. vsa off makes a huge differece. ur cl should have been in the 14 with ur mods.

my tl-s got 14.95 twice, na, with a k&n drop in filter and resonator removed. got 14.3 with a 65shot dry. something up with ur car or u dont know how to race.

yea... my tire pressure was 40.. i kinda forgot about that. TCS was on and i'd never raced from a stand still in an auto in 5 years. So I need to fix all of those, go back there and see wtf I can run.

For sure take vsa off, when I raced an unstaged srt4 He walked on me with vsa on, but with it off I beat him every single time.

All I had was an injen intake, took out my sub and amp, removed spare jack and tools. And I was on 19's with the front tires lowered to 30 psi.

Seeing as you also have a pulley, tb spacer and the thermal gaskets you should easily be able to pull even better. Def get headers when you get a chance, I know I am.

Your trap speed was low, which tells me your car is running out of breath up top. Headers + intake would help

what track did you go to? I'd love to go one time. Do you need anything to go, like a helmet or something?

READ MY SIGNATURE.

I have intake, plenums, tb spacer and option pulley.

So. I need to get 2.1 on the 60-ft and then that should get me 14.9 or something.

I have a feeling when I do the headers it'll be a monster cause all the intake mods don't work well w/o the exhaust Helping that extra intake flow OUT.

seems to me my car is slower than it should b, even if i were to get my 14.9.

w/e 14.5 with exhaust, and headers and i'm happy.

i think i'm gonna go back in a week or 2 with my tires at 28psi and vsa off and see what happens then.

FUnny... my first run i took vsa off and then the other 4 I forgot about. That was my first time at a track. my first pass was 15.45.

And I just floored the car once the light went green... I was really ancy which is another reason i blew my 60-ft. There were soooo many ppl in the stands cause it was some big event night or something.

I went to st.thomas which is like 200KMS from where I live. I went to a friend house nearby then drove another 40 kms, got there then raced. I'm sure all that driving didn't help my time either. LOL

no helmets needed. 20 to race, 5 to watch, and as many races as ur car can take are yours.

gnuts and mrfluffy, we should all hit up the track.!! whatdoyasay

launch at 1800-2000k??? u mean hold the breaks and rev the tranny up... that'd hurt her a lot. WOn't that ruin the trans?

I bet it make a HUGEEEE difference tho because theres no 1st gear engagement which spins the hell out of the tires

Yea, you will destroy the torque converter. Ive done it in the past (not my car though ). It makes a HUGE difference though. The car (it was an 04 Accord V6) took off like a bat out of hell when I did it.

I did it 3 or 4 times before it started slipping.

x2.

If you do load up the tq converter, I wouldnt go that high with it. The stall speeds on it is 1800rpm I believe, so that wears it out more if you let it sit there. 1400-1500 should be fine, but I wouldnt do it all the time.

the less psi u run the more drag u will have at higher speed, slowing down ur car and ur times
