Just drove the Mazda6 5-spd..
Not too shabby .. very tight, handled like a gem, more poise in turns than the TL-S .. more tossable...
The tranny shifts very smoothly, no notchiness, shorter throw than I thought .. about 5" to 6" .. it re-centered itself very well.
Power .. hmm.. I had two other people in the car with me (both about 200lbs), plus myself, 180... so the low-end wasn't there.. this car didn't have any kick until about 5000rpms...
The sound was very cool, the dual exhaust note was very very sweet, a nice aftermarket-like rumble w/o the cheesy of the coffee-can tin vibration.
I took some very hard turns on slick pavements and the MxV4's held fairly well. The car didn't seem like it wanted to toe into the turn. There is just no power in the mid-range or low-end. It felt and sounded very much like the Integra GS-R .. and maybe even like the Type R.. it wound up to some nice pwr, but nothing down low...
Sticker was $25,130 loaded .. and I mean, loaded. It looked sweet, we drove it in that Aegean blue-esque color... I'd prolly go w/ that over the accord. The BMW-like dash w/ the red lights inside was also a sweet bonus.
I think MazdaSpeed's version will be kick-ass for about $28 or $29K.

i saw a buncha them the other day, alot nicer looking in person, i noticed some had what looked like an aero kit of some sort, that made it look very sporty. overall, it looks like a very quality car, havent sat in one, but i dont make my way to the Mazda dealer too much anyway.

tru tru...its nice, but to me it looks like a late 90s sebring from the rear (except of course the sebring had a single exhaust). Thats not necessarily a bad thing though, cause i luved that gen of seb's

THere's no way the mazdaspeed version will be less than 28K, the fully loaded Mazda "6s" is $25K .. another 60hp has to come at a higher price. A closer ratio tranny would do wonders for that car as well.
