Just bought Sumi HTR +

215/50/17 www.Tirerack.com $367.00 Shipped to my door. Ordered tonight.
I know some of you will say these tires suck, but I needed new ones and Will probably sell the car before I see the end of the treadlife of these.

just get them balanced at a decent shop, and you'll be very happy with them. I realize now that mine didn't balance well b/c my rims are unbalanced themselves due to dents/dings/

Congrats.

I support you, they don't suck at all. I survived the winter with them on my Probe GT and I'd buy them again.

Have them on mine, have been fine so far. Did get a bubble in one (same reason i got rid of the set of mich's that came with the car). Don't know what is going on with my car and these bubbles.

I've had my Sumi's since last summer and they have performed great. With the recent rains in Northern California, they don't hydroplane nearly as easily as the stock Michelins. As a matter of fact, they have been terrific when it is pouring down rain. Certainly no regrets here.

Alignment

Do I need to have my car aligned with the mounting of these new tires ?
I guess I could have them check to make sure it's in spec. I just had it aligned after the CT drop, approx 4-5 months ago.

So when you buy these tires from Tirerack, what are the install costs and which tire shop are you heading to.

Just wondering if it is worth it to buy it from Tirerack versus buying from a local car dealer??

Not sure , going to find out tomrrow. Got to call some places and check install prices. May be able to get a buddy of mine to get me the hookup on mount and balance.
Tirerack gives you the option to have them shipped to an "authorized installer", but I didn't want them to be shipped to one of those palces and then get raped by "their" mount and balance prices.
