I wouldn't. How can JL be your only option? A week won't kill your car. Or do it yourself. It's easy.

I had a bad experience there. They leaned on my cruise control cable putting a bend in it. As I was watching, they started my car and the engine was gunned. Engine revved to redline. It was like watching my wife being assaulted.

As I said, I wouldn't go there. I use to think Valvoline was ok but they managed to put an extra quart of oil in my car. I think the quick lube places are staffed with monkeys that do not give a shit. If you want to trust them with your car, go ahead.

Jiffy Lube is a lottery. Some locations are good and some are not. I use Jiffy Lube because I'm too lazy to buy ramps for my car and to take used oil to a recycling center. I always get Mobil 1 put in, and I also use Jiffy Lube for all of my fleet vehicles for my business. I go to a location that maintains the same employees that I now know and trust. I know JL isn't the cheapest alternative, but they're great for people who don't have time to leave their cars for 2+ hours (or make an appointment) at cheaper places that have to put your car on a lift. Plus, I like reading Car & Driver/Motor Trend/Road & Track while I'm waiting.

I've been to some really good one, and a couple really bad ones.

I would just wait til you can get it done some place better. I do it my self or drop it off to a machanic near work and usually give him the oil and filter. He charges me a couple bucks and a cup of coffee to get it done.

Do it your self or wait for the dealer.

My dealer just charged me 49 for a mobile 1 oil change.

Included:
Parts
labor
Loaner car(they are only open when im at work)
car wash
top off all fluids

its nice to know they can't dispute when I got the oil changed

If you have a Chevron oil stop, try them. You stay in your car and start it afterwards. No grease monkey getting in , starting it and revving it wildly to get oil pressure. They also run an a/c tube to your passenger window for cool air and offer you a drink. I also bring my own mobil 1 and filter and they never have a problem. They also torque the drain nut to spec. I like them.

What ever happened to doing things for yourself? An oil change on the CL is about as easy at it gets. It takes about fifteen minutes, less time than going anywhere and trusting them not to f**k it up. Am I the only one left who changes my own oil?

Some of my fam uses jiffy lube here.. its ok.. never any problems.. but tis kind of expensive.. just invest that money in a set of rhino ramps from pep boys... and save some $ in the long run.. we do all our own cars so we have like a 5 gallon bucket with a spout pourer top we store the oil in the garage.. when its full we take it away...

sorry to steal the thread.. but what is the factory spec for ttightening the oil pan bolt?

The problem with places like Jiffy Lube is they don't replace the crush washer on the drain plug. So they need to overtighten the drain plug and eventually it will strip out which would require you to replace the oil pan. Buy a bulk set of crush washers off eBay or just wait a week for the dealership. You don't need to follow the schedule exactly.

Call me lazy, but I prefer to pay the dealership the $27. I don't have to take the old oil in to be recycled and I get the car back all washed and vacuumed.

Ummm... you guys make it too hard for yourselves.

Get an Oil Pump/Tempo Extractor and a new filter. I can change the oil without even getting my clothes dirty and it takes 15 minutes.

I've been thinking about getting one of those. Do they get out ALL the oil?

They actually get out MORE oil than a normal drain because it actually sucks from the bottom of the pan.

extractor +'s ----- no need to change crush washer since you never open up the oil pan bolt.
extrator -'s ------ After the extractor is full you still need to dispose of the oil, you need to jack the car up to change the oil filter anyways... plastic hose is a Pain in the Ass.. dirt will settle to the bottom of the oil pan if not trapped in the filter.

Good floor jack +'s ---- Priceless.. all the oil comes out of the pan if you jack the front of the car up high enough... You will USE a floor jack alot more than an extractor
Jack negatives --- you have to change a .30 cent crush washer..

.... up to you... but I rather have the floor jack over the extractor any day of the week.

Can't you turn the wheel all the way to the right so that you can reach the oil filter without jacking the car?

Marcy, I don't think that one Jiffy Lube change will hurt you
