Jetta 1.8T chipped.... how fast?

Ok, so my buddy just got his 1.8T chipped, and that thing is faaaaaaast. I have a feeling he could easily blow past me. I drove it today and spun the wheels all through 1st most of 2nd. The torque steer was unreal. What do you think he could run?

My shiatbox spins the tire through first and second with a hard chirp into third and it's bone fucking stock. Your CL-S would wipe it's ass with that car. Race him.

Hey joedokes28,

I was just reading your signature & noticed that you have a "Mazda 6 Grill"...What's that all about? It sounds very interesting. Do you have any pictures?

I think folks underestimate what a simple chip swap can do for the earlier versions (I think they changed the fuel system setup for the latest versions) of the 1.8l turbo vw/audi motor.

I bet an older one with a chip runs as least as well as an '01 cl-s (high 14's), if not better.

Mid 14's is rare. I have 2 friends with chipped 1.8T's. One has a Jetta (150hp version) with an APR chip, downpipe and exhaust. I beat him many times by about 1.5 cars with my CLS. It's embarrasing against the Z now.

My other friend has a GTi 1.8T chipped with an APR chip. It was about even with my CLS if he could get traction, but most of the time he spun and I killed him.

Mid 14's with just a chip alone is very difficult with what I have seen

Also, my friend with the Jetta is having a few engine/turbo related problems as he's had the chip in at least a year and a half.

Not recommended if you value long-term durability

The chip does not affect reliablility on the car. There are many 1.8ts with chips, with no problems with over 100k on the chips.

Is there only one aftermarket chip available for that engine?

The 1.8t is the same in the GTi. I'm gonna say that the jetta and gti are close enough to be the same, no flames please. Anyway, my boy has a GTi, chipped with intake exhaust and diverter valve. Before the exhaust I had him by about 2 carlengths of the line by 70, now its a silver bullet, fast as fuck and mean as hell with that hiss from the diverter valve, you would think twice before running a stock CLS against him.

1.8T put out AWESOME power !!! Chipped with intake, downpipe and exhaust they're pushing nearly 275 ft-lbs of torque!! But alas there is more to life than a quarter mile

...but soon you're going to able to pick 1.8T cars up for under 10 grand and it won't take much more to make 300 bhp....it'll make one hell of a 2'nd car

His Jetta is a 2000, I belive, the thing felt faster than my car when I drove it, but it also took a coupla grand RPM's before any power kicked in. In a coupla weeks he and I will run down to the local race track and see for ourselves i guess.

No about 5-8.

Ones I can think of off hand..

Giac, APR, Neuspeed, Upsolute, REVO and a few others.
