ok check this out, so i'm driving along in 3rd gear at about 75, there's a red light up ahead so i start to brake, my revs are @ about 3000 so i downshift to 2nd..i'm comming closer and closer to the red light so i push the brake harder..as i come to a complete stop, my revs drop and the car feels like it's going to turn off..after the 1st time it did this, i tryed it again, and again it felt like it was going to turn off...any idea on why this is so? should i take it to my dealer and talk to him about it? please give me your opinions
Thanks
-Sam

Heh. Doing 75 on a street with a stoplight.

Actually, the stalling thing sounds familiar. I think someone has mentioned the same thing here before...

I have actually felt this in my TL-s , too. I really don't know what the cause is, but I suspect fuel. Have your dealer check the computer system and make sure all is ok, but beyond that, I really can't offer more advice. If I could get it to repeat, we might be able to track it down. It is very random and may just be a combination of temperature, humidity and fuel.

this could b a design flaw, or it could actually b a safety mechanism...pretty much everybody can get this to happen if they brake hard...if the engine idled at 2K, the engine pushes a little forward with light brake pressure...it happens at a stop light with the AC on (people have talked about this on more than a few occasions)...now, i believe the engine idles very low to lower/avoid the risk of any unnecessary pushing forward of the car...it's almost like the car KNOWS u're braking hard and doesn't want to sacrifice any more braking distance, so it almost cuts out the engine totally just so that u can stop as quickly as possible, like a panic stop...this happened to me 2 days ago, and believe me, every time it happens, i get a bit nervous b/c i think the engine's gonna stall.

I do expirence the same problem once in a while, and I think it only happens in the fall/winter time. I dont even use SS, when I am in D5 and come to the stop(gradual) from 60MPH, once I stop, my RPM could drop so low that it almost feels like the car will shutdown. The problem does not happen all the times, but if it will happen again I will go to the dealer.
