The Jeep is Supercharged

Well after begging my dad to do it for like a year, he finally supercahrged the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7 V8.
Great now i'm not home. He got the Kenne Belle Twin Screw charger. It's in, he said he sounds great and it fucking flys. His first test say 5.4 to 60 and 14 flat in the quarter. I can't wait to drive that thing it was sick already with the computer mods and Intake, now SCed. I can't wait. I'll be home in a month to beat the shit out of it.

for his own safety, I hope he has gotten new performance tires, suspention, and BRAKES. A JGC wasn'nt meant to be that fast. I have driven a 2000 Grand Cherokee and the brakes fade fast, he needs to do more than engine to that beast

HELL YEAH!!!!!!

I was telling Nick (TypeSSmokesALL) a friend of ours has a 98 5.9 like mine with a vortec supercharger and intake computer mods, headers that runs mids 13s and 4.9 to 60 W/O NOS, he has ran 12.8 with a 100 shot. THAT IS SICK shit.

Read this article this is what my dad did to the Jeep from Kenne Belle, Except this article was written in April 2000, there have been quite a few computer mods to improve times more, Also click on Tech Data for all the times he got back 16 months ago. Click on the Jeep

Ah, that is what I suspected, but you didn't mention it. One question: Why try to make an SUV fast anyway? If he needs the room, and wants a fast supercharged car, I would have gotten a Dinan supercharged 540i wagon. High 12s

It was just a project, he normally drives a Red Jaguar XJR which is low 5s to 60 and mid 13s quarter, he still doesn't consider that fast, he has been racing muscle cars since the 70s his track car is a 69 Camaro putting out 643hp doing 10.2@135mph

This was just a project for the jeep I have been asking him to do for a while,

Oh, I understand. I still think it is silly to supercharge a Jeep :P Does he just drag race or does he do road courses?

Mafia

He takes the Camaro to the race track once a month or so, one of his friends has a Alcohol funny car that my dad drives for him once in a while, local events.

hahahah no not mafia, he has auto repair shops in the Bronx and Oil Lube places, then office space in New York City, like he owns buildings (and contracts) that people rent out of their businesses. You can see some of them if anyone is familar with Eastchester Road in the Bronx near Pelham Parkway or Morris Park Road.

"fine mafia."

If you all don't really know much about the WJ Grand Cherokee with 4.7's then you might want a refresher: www.jeepsunlimited.com

The 4.7L was WAY underrated in 99-2000. All Quadra Drive equipped V8's would scoot to 0-60 in 7.1.7.3 by both the car rags and G-Techs. I have first-hand experience b/c I have a 2000 WJ V8. ;-) Real-world performance of this 4,200 lb vehicle were way out of sync with 230-235hp. "Claimed" dyno's by various people had it over 270+.

However, Jeep/DC neutered all 99's -2000's and on with a factory recall for Federal Emissions. It was supposed to allow for better compatibility with non-Chrysler interface tools and reduce pinging since the 4.7 does not have a knock-sensor. What they did was, allegedly, slide in a flash to lower the output to published levels. Why? Number of theories: to either lower output due to liability claims (rollover and or durability) or to allow the 4.7L to spawn off a later High Output model using the old ROM flash. Everyone who had the flash complained of much lower output and a sudden "laziness". 0-60 claims were off 1 to 1.5 seconds from the car rags and G-Tech's.

There are currently those attempting to uncover foul play. Alot of people feel that they were robbed of the very thing that they bought the truck for.

I had the same experience and was a bit angry......but my K&N FIPK, Exhaust, Denso Iridiums, and bored throttle body made this a distant memory. Try sub-7's and the ability to eat my CL-P for lunch in stoplight races.

But a brick is still a brick at high speeds. Great in the twisties for an SUV, but it will still put you in the brush pretty quickly.

When the Jeep was stock I did many tests, Just cause it was so much fun to drive that thing it really handled nicely and was quick. I would use Gtech and Stopwatch and usually got between 7.4-7.7 secs to 60mph. With 1/4-1/2 tank. When we got the ECU Upgrade and Intake we also got those 18x8.5" rims and bigger brakes so after that the runs were down to about 6.8-7.0 Which was awesome My friend had a Saab 9-5 Turbo he thought he was the shit in that and I would whip his ass to 60 all the time because of perfect traction. Now with the SCed my dad is saying 5.4 to 60. He is a much better driver than me but I doubt it can matter more than .1 sec on an Automatic Jeep becuase of all the traction. He thinks he can find a few omre tweaks and things to work out to make it run 5 flat. Shoot now I can take out GT's, SC430's, GS430s, S500s, Almost all of the cars that come my way, with a Jeep. Damn I wish I had that down here.

watch out for that aluminum Dana 44 rear......it is not meant to handle loads of a supercharged 4.7.

I had a 98 5.9 limited also. I loved it but couldn't deal with the small issues that it had. That thing was fast as hell! Right now, I'm waiting for my local dealership to get the 02 JGC Overland Edition. 260 HP with a High Output motor. I WANT ONE!!!
