Considering that Ford now owns Jaguar it is quite nice to see that Jaguar has remained as independant as it has.The styling on ths car has many cues from fifties and sixties Jaguar vehicles.Of course reliability is another thing you now have with a Jag now that Ford owns the brand but somehow a Jag that runs all the time seems out of character.Has anyone driven this car yet?We had one here at Park Ave but it was traded out before I could check it out.Jens

I think it has more styling cues from the Ford Contour . . . not that there's anything wrong with that.

Actually, I like the shape too; reminds me of the old XJ6. They should get rid of the rims though, they don't go with they kind of clash with the classical lines of the car.

It's weird how Jaguar can't seem to design anything nice without ruining it somehow. I can't remember which 2001 model Jag it was that I sat in at the L.A. auto show, but it sported the single stupidest center console of recent memory. They put a large drawer smack dab in the middle of console's ergonomic sweet spot for holding tape cassettes. How dumb is that? At least it wasn't for 8-tracks.

I agree with that statement about Jaguar always having to ruin something.

The interior your referring to is probably that of the S-Type. The S-Type is a beautiful car... a car with extremely tasteful, yet retro styling. However, the inside is the shittiest of shit! Cheap plastic everywhere... and the most un-ergonimic layout I have ever seen.

I think the wheels on the new X-Type are pimp though... all the pictures I posted were of the sport package wheels... here are the other available to the X-Type:

X-5

X-10

X-Sport

X-Triple 5

X-7 Flute

"She's a beauty mate". Only drag is that Jaguar is using Ford supplied "Duratec" engines, albeit slightly modified from Taurus and Contour form. (I think they are even manufactured in Cleveland OH-anyone??) Ordinarily it wouldn't matter to me since the Brits are notoriously less than dependable.....but Ford lately under the helm of Nasser has been losing a lot of talent from the ranks, and morale is low. Memory of my 99 Cobra is not far enough removed...LOL

And of interest to some of you weirdos...

When you opt for the sport package they will replace all the chrome on the outside with body colored trim.

Id stick with the chrome though... BLING BLING!

heres the body color trim on a couple x-types:

It sure looks better than other jaguars, but.......Lexus IS300 still looks better. By the way, the impression Jaguar gives me just doesn't go away, it's a old dude's car.

To me, it seems to hint too much of the Taurus.

Kavex... where you been silly boy?

Benz has had a CL-class for quite awhile... its the pimpenest benz you can buy!

You don't wanna know how much it costs

As for the Benz C-Class... I finally sat in one at the Auto Show this weekend... ewww. It just feels so old and stodgy... with a hint of cheapness thrown in.

The Jaguar will prolly feel the same way. But for now I am enjoying the pretty pics

The new C-Class coupe is on the cover of AutoWeek this past week. All except for the back... its pretty sweet... especially for $26,000!!!

the look of this car rocks, classy, sporty, luxury... its specs and claimed performance aint shabby either... I love it... for one moment I really want to have this to be my next vehicle, however, Jaguar does have so-so quality.

Up to you Soopa.. for one thing the X-Type
will initially only be 4-door. The
starting price of $29,800 is only for the
2.5 liter engine and with nothing in it.
For a fully loaded 3.0 liter and sport
edition for the JAg X-Type it will cost u
a little bit over $40K.. not worth it in
my opinion for a mini-S type Jag. Maybe if
they supercharge this engine that would make
for an interesting ride.
