J35 Transplant

A work still in progress but nonetheless, coming soon. Took nearly 3 months to get the block sleeved.

The piston in photo #DSC00041 - is that a stock 3.5L piston - it has no dome whatsoever.

yes, stock 3.5 piston out of a 03/04 RDJ MDX block.

Yes, the 6 spd tranny will bolt to the 3.5 block, (gawd...I hope so) well, that's what I've been told.

Actually here's the scoop on this. The 01/02 MDX and 01-03 3.2 are the same block, the PGE series, including the 6spd. However, the 03\04 MDX RDJ Block is different. When we had the RDJ on the engine stand and replaced it with the block returned from AEBS, the mounting was different as well as an oil return hole on the deck of the block. Look at pic 39, this is the RDJ block, and if you look at the bottom of the pic just below the two right cylinders, you will see a Kidney shaped oil return hole, if you look at pic 44 and look in the same place, you can see the difference. However, the crank and rods are steel in the RDJ where as the crank in the PGD 3.5 is cast. that's why there is a difference of around 5-6 hundred just for the crank if you compare years to prices. You guys are getting some freebees here. ahh, what the hell. hope some of you put it to good use.

I'm a little confused, so your going with a PGE series block then?? That's what you got from AEBS as stated above. I thought you were gonna run with the RDJ? (Refer to the first quote) Or are you planning on running a PGE with RDJ crank & rods..? The kidney shaped oil return provides better oil distribution?? Any insight on why HONDA decided to go with the kidney shaped oil return as opposed to the PGE's circular hole? Thanks for the info/ research you've put into this, some of us aren't fortunate enough to have the time or resources.. But interesting none the less.. Thank you for your time...
